| Coldplay – Death and All His Friends Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Spectacular song. Just like Life in Technicolor, I wish they made it longer. The 'Death and all his friends' is incredibly powerful... A bit like Fix You, only 1000 times better. :-) | |
| Bruce Springsteen – Last to Die Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The problem with your reasoning matkojebca, is that this war was a farce from the beginning. If there was reliable intelligence about Saddam having WMD's which later proved to be mistaken, you would be absolutely right. The problem is that there wasn't any reliable intelligence from the beginning. This war was started under false pretenses, and the 'goal' of 'reforming' Iraq proved to be a major mistake. I think that's the point of this song. | |

Holy crap, this is the most aggressive song I've ever heard... Definitely the most pounding song on the whole album. I already feel exausted after listening to it for one minute. As for it's meaning, like others said I think this song is obviously about manipulation and brainwashing. Misuse within organized religion indeed seems well fit for this song (although I have no idea where the "SAAAAAANE!!!!!!!!! MEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!" part fits in). Also, I think the lines "Come and hear my twisted lies, the way I bend and falsify A master of deception, user of an untrue smile A rapist of the truth, adapting it to fit my cause" "Bury, cover up, repress. I betray the people I "possess" What ever enemy - I'll disable with mendacity I make my way, extend my ground, I clear my future-path When it comes to joys, manipulation is my game of choice" "My intentions soon you will see The sway of my scheme, imposed upon all Come follow me, my puppets to be, I'll attach my strings, manipulation begins" are a great description of president Bush jr. and his 'War On Terror'. |

| What MrLongrove said. This song makes me feel good about being a European... | |
| Meshuggah – Glints Collide Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Prepare to get blown away by the solo at 2:34. Best solo of all Meshuggah songs IMO. | |

This song is about relativism and how we humans will never be able to 'reach' absolute knowledge, as we are confined to our human way of thinking. In fact, the term 'absolute knowledge' is a human term, and we will never be able to sanely cross our 'thinking borders' to somehow understand what's beyond them. This I believe is what the lines "perspectives distorted, the ladder beyond our grasp, the twinheaded serpent forever hidden" point to. I believe the lines "reality untouchable, transparent, invisible to our fixed, restricted fields of vision, Existence taken for granted absolute" definitely point towards relativism. Did anyone read the book 'Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance'? In it, the main character discovers a different way of understanding the world, a way of thinking which leads out of the 'human realm' of thinking. The more he tries to perceive this understanding, the more he slips away, eventually turning insane, at least in our eyes. I think this what concerns the lines "where's the true knowledge, where engines of the sane and insanity merge". For those wondering what the hell I'm babbling about: try looking up the terms 'relativism', 'absolute knowledge', and 'sophism' in Wikipedia and things will hopefully become clearer. :) |

| Tom Waits – Army Ants Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I LOVE this song! Spookish, eccentric, intriguing... This is why I listen to Tom Waits. :D | |
| Brian Eno – And Then So Clear Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song is the definition of soothing... My inner self completely melts away every time the keyboard kicks in at the end. :) | |
| Meshuggah – Autonomy Lost Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I love this part... Best intro song ever, Catch 33 couldn't have a better start. No soft intro's, no slow build or whatsoever. You just insert the CD, press play, it stays quiet for a moment, then BAM. You dive straight into the mysterious, horrid, and macaber complexities of Catch 33. It's also guaranteed to blow your socks off if you have your volume high. :D | |
| Propagandhi – Fuck Religion Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song... Pretty much explains itself. 'Nuff said. | |
| Brian Eno – Bottomliners Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Pretty much speaks for itself... This song is about the masses and masses of people in the world who are extremely poor, and are being left in the cold by the rich countries/regimes (which probably includes most of our countries as well) who refuse to stick out their neck for them. | |

I agree with shaggyrooster, this song illustrates something coming to an end. I once stepped on my bike and rode through the dunes to the sea (I live near the sea so it's not far) to watch the sunset, while playing this song on my MP3 player... It was damn magnificent. (Picture of the sunset can be found in the link below, for who is interested) http://img115.imageshack.us/img115/2805/p8280410lqgo0.jpg |
