Matthew Good – Blue Skies Over Bad Lands Lyrics 7 months ago
What an incredibly real song. While I agree that there is the more obvious political interpretation of this song, I do think the meaning can be applied to not just our political "enemies" (or generally, to anyone who we fear because we don't understand them), but applies to our interaction with literally every person on earth.

What makes us different than anyone? What makes one person more deserving of anything that they have? Do people really "choose" their actions? The reality is each one of us is lucky to be in the situation we are currently in (good or bad). Our lives are pure luck, and in the grand scheme of things, so are our actions and who we are as people. The best we can do for each other as human beings is to try to understand one another in all our differences (understand understanding), to empathize, to be better to one another.

Switchfoot – Mess of Me Lyrics 10 years ago
To me, the drug is anything that is our escape, something we depend on, rely on to alter us, the way a drug does. There's nothing that can actually cure our ailment, because we've totally screwed up the diagnosis and prescription. Rather than trying to heal a wound through an escape, we should be first trying to heal our dependence on the escape.

The Game – Better On The Other Side Lyrics 10 years ago
Really, the lyrics in this song are awful. The chorus isn't too bad, but the rest isn't that great and they could've done a better job of paying tribute to MJ.

R.I.P. and all, but I hope some artists can create another collaboration to commemorate the man.

Stars – Life 2: The Unhappy Ending Lyrics 11 years ago
I perceive the 'hero' as almost psychotic. Maybe not literally, but he is irrational as this goes down. Whether he was on drugs, or what...
I too felt that this was dark. That he somehow hurt the girl. Originally I figured she's his girlfriend, but rape or even just a kidnap-murder crime seems more fitting.

Stars – The Ghost of Genova Heights Lyrics 11 years ago
Yea, definite disco feel. Reminds me of The Bee Gees.

Jon Foreman – Instead Of A Show Lyrics 11 years ago
Beautiful song. Favourite on the EP hands down. Gives me chills.
I think the meaning is fairly clear: cut out pale worshipping and instead let actions follow your beliefs.

Jon Foreman – March (A Prelude To Spring) Lyrics 12 years ago
I believe it's Molly Jenson. Jon has done a few songs with her in the past.

Paper Route – Are We All Forgotten Lyrics 12 years ago
Hey, thanks for the correction. I just recently got into them before I posted these lyrics. I was quite suprised nobody had mentioned them on this site yet.

Switchfoot – 4:12 Lyrics 13 years ago
Why don't you just edit it now and then switch-foot it when you actually hear the album yourself? I don't think the sequences will change that much.

Anyway, I love this song. I've heard it before, but in fairly bad quality so I can't wait to hear it chrisp off the album.

Switchfoot – Let Your Love Be Strong Lyrics 13 years ago
"Let your love be strong, and I don't care what goes down
Let your love be strong enough to weather through the thunder cloud
Fury and thunder clap like stealing the fire from your eyes
All of my world hanging on your love"

This a great song by the way. :D

The Fray – Some Trust Lyrics 13 years ago
I love this song, I'm a little surprised there's only one comment. But I guess it's an older The Fray song. So if you haven't heard it yet, I advise any fans to do so.

I interpret the song as this:
In the song, he describes a door which is extremely difficult to pass through. You're burdened with all these things that you 'need'. I think what we think we need is something to trust in. Some don't trust in anything and are able to get through the door. I don't think I understand the full picture of the song though. Is not being able to get through the door a good thing or bad thing?
I'd love to hear any other interpretations from others who've listened to the song.

Augustana – California's Burning Lyrics 13 years ago
Don't you have an opinion of the song? :P

I don't know, it seems to me like the song is just literal. He's talking about what it would be like with a burning California. No sun, no smilies, everyone feeling physcially horrible that they can't go home or stay home. And he's just waiting for the day that the fire goes out and everyone is happy to be home and every city is happy to be lived in.
There is probably some sort of message, but nothing I can see.
