The Police – De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da Lyrics 18 years ago
This is Sting at his best: deceiving you into believing that the song means something else. Judging by its title, "De do do do" could be regarded as a brainlessly naif track when in facts the lyrics are rather deep and yet so simple. It's a song about words and their power to trick and manipulate. Sometimes it's better to just hum a meaningless tune, it's the message. And the music is timeless and never fails to make me jump in my chair.

The Beatles – One After 909 Lyrics 19 years ago
Is the "one after nine-o-nine" the first available train after the one which departs at 9:09?
Or is it the first available train after the 909 (route/line number)?

The Police – Truth Hits Everybody Lyrics 19 years ago
I have a bootleg with a slow version of this song. Does anyone know more about that version, when it was recorded and was it released?

The Police – Be My Girl - Sally Lyrics 19 years ago
This song was also one of the highlights of the Police's early concerts. Believe it or not! :-D
Andy Summers did have a taste for distasteful lyrics :-P
Also: Friends (a song about cannibalism)!

The Police – A Sermon Lyrics 19 years ago
Stewart's father was actually Miles Copeland Jr. (Stewart's brother is Miles Copeland III). To paraphrase Al Pacino in "Scent of a woman", this probably makes Stewart's grandfather Miles Copeland Sr. :)

The Police – Fall Out Lyrics 19 years ago
The above are the most commonly reported lyrics, but IMHO they don't make much sense here and there.
Here is another version which I've read somewhere and convinces me a lot more.
It also may be possible that the early Police, in the spirit of punk, changed the words slightly from gig to gig.
It's a song about non-belonging and feeling a dropout.

I never followed leaders
I've got no machine
And I've paid my dues all along
Always had to fake it
When I mixed with other people
'Cause I knew that I was really alone

Fall out
Fall out with all the leaders and gangs
Fall out
Fall out with all the leaders and gangs

I sold my education
It was my indoctrination
Just to be another cog in the machine
Always had to fake it
When I mixed with other people
'Cause I knew that I was not very clean

Fall out
Fall out with all the leaders and gangs
Fall out
Fall out with all the leaders and gangs

Fall out
Fall out with all the leaders and gangs
Fall out
Fall out with all the leaders and gangs

Fall out!
