first off... Kutless is awesome... i love this song... its got a punk rockish sound... especially for Kutless... its got a good meaning to it... but the lyrics really don't go together that good... "Your body's the bread, Your blood's the wine, because you traded your life for mine" what does that have to do with the rest of the song? its a great song but the lyricist seems like he was trying to find somethin to rhyme and not somethin that made sense with the song... but i really love Kutless... i really wonder sometimes if some of you listen to the song... Scott Stapp is definitely in a battle with his spirit over whether or not he should restore his relationship with God... the light he sometimes cannot see is the light of Christ because he's fixed his eyes on the things of this world... the silver lining (grace) sometimes isn't enough to make some wrongs (sin) seem right... he's been through it all and the chorus is sung from God speaking to us (His children)... Scott thinks that God has forgotten about him because he turned his back on Him... but the truth is that Christ is ready whenever Scott is... Am I hiding in the shadows? that means is he dwelling with the devil when he should be with God? the devil is telling him to forget his pain and forget the sorrows of his sin... he still believes that God can turn him around again... that's the redeeming quality that Scott loves to bring... his flesh continues to tell him that he can make it without Christ... one day he will give in to his conviction... thanks... Creed was one of my personal favorite bands of all time... the only thing i regret about Creed is the fact that Scott Stapp seemed to be battling God... seems to me that he's angry at God for something... this song is about how he thinks God is picking on him and how he is under conviction... he can't sleep because God is tugging at his heart and he can't stand being awake because the rocks are crying out to God for his lack of God-seeking... reminds me of a verse in Psalms... the skin that peels and just won't heal is referring to his flesh... he continues to sin and his spirit is all torn up about it... he's rusted and weathered... torn all up inside because of a separation from God... he always has a redeeming quality in his songs though... like he knows that someday he will reunite with his "lost" Love that is Christ Jesus... if you liked Creed, you should definitely check out Scott Stapp's solo album... I believe this song was probably wrote about every born-again Christian on the planet... to me it means that he sat by and watched the rest of the world live and he didn't understand how everyone else seemed to grow in their relationship with Christ while he just stood still... this is a conversation between a believers heart and God... this is definitely a song where the writer is writing from personal experience that he fell out of touch with God... he means he didn't talk to God like he should... his relationship was sinking and he's asking forgiveness for it... maybe he was blaming God for something that went wrong in his life and he fell out of touch with God and now he's asking forgiveness for it... he's ready to give it all back to God... most of their songs are about this kind of thing... Some of you are very off on the meaning of this song... it is definitely a song about a backslidden condition... "I've given up... I'm doing this alone now... Cause I've failed and I'm ready to be shown how..." means that he's giving up on trying to live the life of Christianity without Jesus... he failed at doing that, and he's now ready for Jesus to show him how to live... "And this life sentence that I'm serving... I admit that I'm every bit deserving... but the beauty of grace is that it makes life not fair..."means that he ackowledges that he deserves all the consequences and repurcussions of the sinful life he was leading... Grace is the only thing that can change what we are... by God's grace alone are we saved from hell... grace makes life unjust... if we got what we deserve, we would all go to hell...but Jesus wouldn't let that happen...:) THAT'S MY KING!
