Foreigner – Hot Blooded Lyrics | 16 years ago |
classic-rocker8, the live version on "Records" does indeed include that extra (and strange) bit of lyrics. I was actually looking around to see if anyone else had heard this, since I just picked up Records today ($3.00 at a thrift store with a broken case, but no disc damage). |
Sweet – Wig-Wam Bam Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The lack of Sweet fans on this site is appalling. I always loved this song. It's kind of funny, really, that Sweet took the legend in "Song of Hiawatha," complete with the lovers Hiawatha and Minnehaha, and made it all fun and silly. They did the same thing with Running Bear and White Dove from the song "Running Bear." |
Led Zeppelin – Darlene Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Agreed, DAS JETS. I also consider this to be one of Zeppelin's worst songs, though I still enjoy it. The lyrics fall so incredibly short for Zeppelin, and for the longest time I couldn't even tell Plant was saying "Darlene." But then, it is basically a reject song, after all. |
Van Halen – I'll Wait Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Indeed, Alex does a real kickass job on this song. This is one of my favorite songs off of 1984, but then, the whole album is amazing. |
Pink Floyd – Run Like Hell Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Has anyone heard the live version of this song in "Is There Anybody Out There: The Wall Live 1980-81?" I may get ripped on for this, but I think it's better than the studio version. There's a lot more effects to it, not to mention a lot more of that wonderfully strange screeching noise that Waters makes. His speech at the beginning is also a really nice touch, except for the fact that the pig is left out of the speech. |
Sweet – The Six Teens Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Ah, never mind, my mistake...it seems they were referred to as The Sweet on albums before 1974 and singles before 1975. In any case, I'm still calling them Sweet, since that's what their name last was. |
Boston – Rock And Roll Band Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Only 4 comments? How sad...this is my favorite Boston tune. The chorus gets stuck in my head so often, and I listen to it in the car a lot. Such a catchy song about Boston getting their start as a rock band. |
The Black Keys – 10 A.M. Automatic Lyrics | 17 years ago |
My favorite tune from my favorite modern band (well, duo, but whatever). Kickass song. |
Sweet – Action Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song kicks so much ass. I agree that Sweet is underrated, and over the years they've become on of my favorite bands, but I can't say they're better than The Beatles. Oh, and you guys have heard Def Leppard's cover of this, right? I think they did a really good job on the cover. I love it almost as much as the original. The song just works so well for both the Sweet and Def Leppard sounds. |
Sweet – The Six Teens Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is my favorite song by Sweet. I always have to sing along with it whenever I hear it. On another note, isn't the correct name for the band "Sweet?" I could have sworn that they were only called The Sweet on one album by mistake, or something to that effect. |
Eagles – I Can't Tell You Why Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yeah, it does kinda sound like it uses a drum machine, doesn't it? I've never read anything that confirms that, though, so I'm assuming it to be false. Anyway, this has always been one of my favorite Eagles songs. Great, smooth stuff. |
Van Halen – Spanked Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm disappointed. Where are all the hardcore Van Halen fans? GREAT song. |
Van Halen – Pleasure Dome Lyrics | 17 years ago |
That's what I heard as well, Fen. I don't know for sure though, so I'm just going with your explanation. Kind of annoying how there's only this many comments. This is one of my favorite songs on F.U.C.K. |
Van Halen – Man On A Mission Lyrics | 17 years ago |
No comments? I know this isn't the greatest Van Halen song, but it's still a good song from a great album! I hardly see the need for me to decipher the meaning of this song. It's pretty obvious what sort of "mission" this man is on. |
John Lennon – Imagine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song...is a sort of anthem for me. It's almost all of my worldwide ideals, dreams, and wishes wrapped up into one neatly done package. And what a package it is...everything about the song is perfect. "Imagine" always makes me a bit teary-eyed...maybe it's because the song gets more and more true for me every time I listen to it, and my mind gets a little closer to reality. World peace will never happen. There's never going to be an end of countries, an end of religion...this mudball of a planet is doomed to be host to us moronic humans until we finally die out... But we can dream, right? John Lennon was not just a Beatle. He was a genius, and I'll always remember him, even if he is a bit beyond my time. And I don't think this song will ever truly be a happy one for me, even when my life is a little...simpler. I feel like listening to "The Long and Winding Road" now...heh. |
Van Halen – Top Of The World Lyrics | 17 years ago |
What the...no comments? It may be a Hagar song, but come on people, this is really good stuff here. I absolutely LOVE Eddie's intro to this song, and the overall mood of the song makes it a great finish to For Unawful Carnal Knowledge. To me, this song just screams "sex." I guess that would make sense, what with the album it's on. But I don't really know or care to think about it too much... |
The Doors – Land Ho! Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love this song. It's probably my 3rd favorite song on the Morrison Hotel album. Sadly though, I don't really have an explanation of a meaning for the song. I was hoping someone else would have one. |
Poison – Fallen Angel Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Poison was more than a glam band, that's for sure. And yeah, it's too bad that people don't see past their image and pay attention to the music. This is my favorite song by Poison...has been ever since I first heard it. |
AC/DC – Girls Got Rhythm Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love this song. If you ask me, the best part about it is that awesome riff. |
AC/DC – Heatseeker Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Dang, not very many replies. AC/DC freaking rocks, and I love pretty much all of their work. This is no exception. Damn good song. |
Def Leppard – Rock Of Ages Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is my favorite Def Leppard song...it's just so freakin' awesome and Allen's wonderful gibberish at the beginning makes it different from all their other songs. I don't know why, but the chorus of this song is one of my favorites from any song ever. "Rock of ages, rock of ages, Still a-rollin', keep a-rollin', Rock of ages, rock of ages, Still a-rollin', rock n' rollin'." Absolute masterpiece for Def Leppard, and it's the song that got me into them. |
Def Leppard – Make Love Like A Man Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is what I love about Def Leppard. They don't take themselves seriously at all. I absolutely love this song, and it's one of their best if you ask me. |
Blue Öyster Cult – Take Me Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Yeah, the guy above me summed it up pretty dang well. This song and ETI are both awesome songs that have references to the "men in black." |
Tesla – Little Suzi Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I absolutely love this song, and I kinda find it hard to believe that barely anyone has reviewed anything by Tesla on this site...it's a shame. Tesla's a damn good band. |
Whitesnake – Is This Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Ahh...wonderful Whitesnake goodness. This is one of the best love songs ever written, as well as one of the best power ballads. I love this. |
Queen – Crazy Little Thing Called Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I absolutely love how Elvis-ish this song is. It's also one of my favorite Queen songs ever. |
Led Zeppelin – Hats Off to (Roy) Harper Lyrics | 18 years ago |
To my understanding, Led Zeppelin recorded this song because they admired the way Roy Harper didn't sell out. He stood by what he felt was right. Roy Harper later showed his appreciation by donating the sleeve photograph for Physical Graffiti. |
Van Halen – Hot for Teacher Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I absolutely love this song. I think it's probably my favorite Roth-era VH song...it's so damn cool! It's a great song to get you moving around! Plus, it's kinda funny too. |
Sweet – Fox On The Run Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I always kinda figured it was about some girl who suddenly found herself "popular," because she changed her ways. Now she's a stuck-up bitch who thinks she's better than everyone else and demands attention. But that's just my guess. It kind of fits, but whatever. |
Led Zeppelin – Friends Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is one of my favorite Zeppelin songs...it's so beautiful...the guitar is just awesome and the lyrics are just as good... Overall, one of Zeppelin's best. And that's saying alot. |
Blue Öyster Cult – Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll Lyrics | 18 years ago |
What?? Nobody's commented on this yet?? Jeez...BOC really deserves more attention. Anyway, I'm not entirely sure what this means. I'm guessing that it has something to do with the bad reputation that rock and roll has with some some older people...the lyrics seem to speak of the genre as a forbidden thing... It almost seems like it's sarcasm, saying that rock and roll is destroying our society or something. But then when "let the girl" lines come in, you see the real opinion without the sarcasm... *shrugs* But my guess is as good as anybody's. |
Led Zeppelin – The Ocean Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Ah, another fantastic Led Zeppelin song...not that anything by them isn't fantastic. Anyway, I was under the impression that this song was just about the crowds at their shows...but then I suppose Plant's daughter could be a part of it too. I suppose one could say that Plant is comparing his daughter to that ocean... "she is only three years old and that's a real fine way to start" To me, that kinda says that he values his daughter more than any crowd and would rather play for her any day. |
John Lennon – Imagine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is one of my all-time favorite songs...John Lennon was just...amazing. It's such a beautiful song. They used it for the olympics in Torino this year...that was an awesome suprise. |
Aerosmith – Janie's Got A Gun Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is the song that got me into Aerosmith. It's just so great! Everything about it is awesome. |
Van Halen – Dreams Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is probably one of my favorite Van Halen songs...if not my favorite. But of course "Running with the Devil" is pretty high up there for me too...*shrugs* |
Styx – Babe Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I absolutely love this song...it's one of those love songs that really hits hard for me... It's not my favorite by Styx, but it's certainly high on the list. |
Led Zeppelin – Ten Years Gone Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is one of my Led Zeppelin favorites...it's such a beautiful and saddening song. |
Blue Öyster Cult – In Thee Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is one of my favorite love songs ever...it's really quite beautiful and one of BOC's best, if you ask me. The meaning to me is one that's maybe too obvious...I suppose it's merely the story of a man and his lost love who decided to leave him. The two shared a close relationship that this man didn't want to end. He wishes he could see her...hold her...again. But he realizes that perhaps he'll never see her again. |
Blue Öyster Cult – Don't Fear The Reaper Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This beautiful song is the first BOC song I ever heard. It's the song that encouraged me to go buy "The Essential Blue Oyster Cult," and got me stuck in BOC fandom. Now, the song to me is not entirely about suicide. It could be, of course, but to me it means something different. Essentially, it means nothing more than what it says. "Don't fear the reaper." Don't fear death, for it's not such a bad thing. It's really only the end of this world and the beginning of a grand new adventure. Our fear of death separates us from much of the natural world, and to lose that fear can put everyone and everything at peace. At the same time, losing that fear can bring happiness, and love...as suggested by the lyrics. This doesn't mean that one would have to kill themselves. *shrugs* But this is just my belief. In any case, this is a absolutely wonderful song...almost haunting as well. Plus, it made for a great SNL sketch. :D |
Blue Öyster Cult – E.T.I. Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Well, I'm a somewhat big BOC fan, and this is one of my favorites. Strange how nobody's posted a meaning here yet. Anyway, I'm not entirely sure what it means, but it's simple enough to make assumptions bordering Roswell and other related "mysteries" and "conspiracies." And of course, Balthazar is one of the Magi. Where that comes in, I'm not sure. Anyone got a meaning for this song? |
