Alice in Chains – Brother Lyrics 19 years ago
Probably my favorite AIC song, or at least in the top five. It's just beautiful to me. Oddly enough though, I actually prefer the album version over the Unplugged version. But they're both mezmerizing.

This song, and the Queen cover, make the "Sin" single worth buying.

Nine Inch Nails – Suck (Pigface cover) Lyrics 19 years ago
AKitty is right. It's about fucking while high, which is a wonderful experience.

By the way, the only reason you haven't heard of Pigface is because you're too lazy to look for any other bands other than those that are spoonfed to you by corporate radio. They're not bad, they sounds kind of experimental.

The original Pigface version of 'Suck' is better, in my opinion. It's so simple yet so good.

Slayer – Silent Scream Lyrics 19 years ago
Somewhat strange to think that the guys of Slayer seem anti-abortion. Or perhaps they're not, maybe they're just singing about it. I don't know.

Nine Inch Nails – Pinion Lyrics 19 years ago
pinion - to bind the arms of (shackle) or to cut the wings off (of birds)

Intersting.

The music video is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. There must be some very terribly dark places in Reznor's sick mind.

Haha! Mansonites are so touchy when it comes to their replacement god.

Nine Inch Nails – Memorabilia Lyrics 19 years ago
Trent Reznor must like challenges. Every song he covers is great to begin with, this one is no different, but...the only difference between this one and all the others is...his version isn't all that good. Soft Cell's version is much better, in my opinion.

Nine Inch Nails – Maybe Just Once Lyrics 19 years ago
I'll have to read Manson's autobiography then, thank you for telling about that. I agree that this song definitely is not about her, this song is way too old. "Starfuckers, Inc." probably has to do with her, or so I've heard, and it seems pretty clear, anyway.

However, I'm sure Trent Reznor is a real prick, he's obviously arrogant. I mean, when I saw him live he said to the audience, "what was that, did you say Rob Zombie sucks?" Haha. His asshole persona is pretty funny and almost attractive, but I'm sure it screws up alot of things in his personal life and is damaging to relationships. But still...a long time, maybe he was just a really nice guy that kept getting hurt. I wouldn't know though, I'm just a fan, not his shrink.

Nine Inch Nails – Maybe Just Once Lyrics 19 years ago
Most people don't see the good in others, to be honest. I'm sure Reznor has been hurt very badly before, but I think he has used this pain a little too much as a lyrical tool for his songs on this album. But nevertheless, as scarce as good men are, most women don't see them, and if they do realize who they are, sometimes they've already hurt them and then it's too late to salvage a relationship.

Tool – Maynard's Dick Lyrics 19 years ago
I swear this is one of the funniest conversations I've ever heard. Apparently Maynard has an average-sized penis, polls and studies show that the average length of a penis is anywhere between 5 and 6 inches long. But still, you get all these weirdos going "my dick is bigger than Maynard's! A-huck!". It reminds me of the song "Big Man With A Gun" by NIN. I guess people have to feel important somehow *sigh*

Linkin Park...yuck! It's a travesty that they covered two of NIN songs. What a waste, a monumental waste.

Nine Inch Nails – We're in This Together Lyrics 20 years ago
Thanks BlackDahlia for posting that. It's very interesting.

I personally didn't see the song as being necessarily "positive", just more about survival. Being in a desperate situation and still getting through it. I probably took the stereotypical approach and associated it with my relationship to my girlfriend, with whom there have been many, many rough and emotionally painful times. This song has helped me get through those times with her and has helped me enjoy the good times and her beauty.

I do not know if Trent Reznor was writing anything like that about a romantic interest in his own life. All I know is that it was a blessing to me in my own life. If I met him, I'd personally thank him for this song. It has meant so much to me.

Nine Inch Nails – Ruiner Lyrics 20 years ago
One of the most genius songs on TDS. Not because of it's meaning, I don't think it has a meaning, it's just lyrics. Angry lyrics against someone he hates, someone manipulative, a liar. We've all met someone like that, they're everywhere, they manifest themselves in one way or another. I think that's why this song is so smart, it doesn't imply that it is anyone, he keeps it subtle and open. It could be about God, a religious figure, one of his parents, an authority figure, a friend, a lover, or a complete stranger that is somehow "ruining" him and others. I don't think you can tie a song down like this. I think Trent is considerate enough to let his fans fit their own lives and perspectives into TDS, and not overcrowd and dominate with only his feelings and views. People are able to relate to TDS easily, and this song in particular. It just seems way too open and flexible to be about just one single thing.

Nine Inch Nails – March of the Pigs Lyrics 20 years ago
I agree with the theory that he's referring to fans. Talking about how they crawl up wanting to be fed (by him, by his emotions). Look at us all, we are all watching him "lose it", watching him go through this pain, we're practically feeding on it. It entertains us. We are the ones watching his skin as it peels back. It's his blood that stains our teeth. And if it scares us too much, we always "discredit it, pick away at it". It makes perfect sense to me. Also, while watching the live DVD he calls his fans "pigs", and yells "c'mon, you fucking pigs, march!" I could be wrong, but I think this is what it means.
