Jimmy Buffett – Bama Breeze Lyrics 17 years ago
Schoolboysheart, you have a lot to learn my friend... First off, the video to this song WAS indeed shot in the Firedog Saloon in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Photos from Jimmy's visit can be seen on their website as well as the Margaritaville website. In fact, in part of the video, Jimmy is actually on part of the Bay St. Louis Bridge, which was destroyed by Katrina's storm surge. Second, the FloraBama is actually in Florida, as the state line is to the west of the building, making it impossible for it to be in both states at once. So that whole thing about half the bar being closed at 1:00 a.m. and the other at 2:00 is false. The FloraBama's address is 17401 Perdido Key Drive, Pensacola, Florida. There is also a post statement at the end of the music video, stating the dedication to all the little beach bars along the Gulf that were destroyed. Furthermore, the FloraBama is currently under reconstruction due to damage from the past few hurricane seasons, so it is, in fact, not gone, but very much alive. The next time you decide to try and prove somebody wrong, please make sure that they are not smarter than you, like I have proven to be, or at the very least have your facts straight.

Jimmy Buffett – Bama Breeze Lyrics 18 years ago
Jimmy wrote this song as a tribute to all of the local beach bars and dives that were destroyed in the tragic hurricane seasons of 2004-05. The video was shot in the ruins of the Firedog Saloon right off South Beach Blvd in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi. This area was one of the worst hit during Katrina and the people of the Mississippi still need our help to restore the infrastructure and get the ball rolling to rebuild better and stronger than before. http://www.firedogsaloon.com/

Darryl Worley – Have You Forgotten? Lyrics 19 years ago
Hey, uh, venushalley, when was the last time you turned on your TV and actually watched the news? Because you are obviously not up on your current events. You've got some gall insinuating that I don't know what liberty or freedom mean. Unlike you left wing lunatics, I support our men and women overseas and have family and close friends who have or currently are serving abroad. This song is dedicated to the folks who died in the tragic events on 9/11 and the people like you who are quick to forget the victims, not to mention the freedom fighters who are dying every day to protect us here on the homefront. Oh, and before you go making an more assumptions, GManiac6899 is a tribute to my ownership of General Motors vehicles, including my '68 Pontiac Lemans 350 coupe, '99 Oldsmobile Alero, '04 Chevy Silverado and '04 Pontiac GTO. I thank the Lord every day to be a Southerner who knows right from wrong. So unless you have the facts straight you'd do best to keep your commentary to yourself. You look like less of an ass that way. God Bless America and God Bless the South!

This song is to all the crazy liberals out there against the War on Terror and War In Iraq. If we don't take a stand against these terrorists, then who will? France? Germany? Russia? Hell, no! All of these nations are in bed with the enemy, somehow or another. It is our duty to protect liberty and freedom and destroy those who threaten it. So shut the hell up and show some support for your country and the men and women defending it! Bush may be an idiot, but at least he's not afraid to do what he thinks is right.

Bruce Springsteen – Youngstown Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is a much darker twist on Billy Joel's Allentown. Both cities have similar industrial histories. And, um, just to clarify, there are no mines in Youngstown, Ohio. For years, Youngstown was a steel giant and home to Youngstown Tube and Sheet, one of the regions biggest steel producers. Unfortunately, due to foreign competition, Youngstown's steel mills are all but abandoned. The city went through some hard times, and eventually lost almost half of its 1950 population of 150,000. Today, Youngstown is a progressive city of approx. 80,000 hardworking folks trying to breath life back into this former industrial powerhouse. Downtown is beginning to attract businesses again. Projects are under way to clean up and improve the appearance of the city. Having spent part of my childhood in the Rust Belt of Ohio, this song is somewhat personal. Springsteen also mentions the Monongahela Valley (Pa and Wv), Mesabi Iron Range (Mn)and the Appalachian coal mines (Oh, Pa, Wv, Va, Ky, Tn). All of these areas are also being hurt by imported products being purchased over domestic goods. The rich and well-to-do find it easy to overlook these people and their plights, but I cannot stand by and watch anymore lives be destroyed. Read the lyrics carefully. Remember that every time you purchase a Japanese car or a product that was "Made In China", you are helping to kill a city... Thank you Bruce for making America's "secret" depression known to the world.

Bruce Springsteen – Into the Fire Lyrics 19 years ago
Into The Fire is a beautiful tribute to the men and women of the NYFD, and their courage and bravery on the terrible morning of September 11th, 2001. These men and women died for a noble cause, giving their lives to save the lives of others. The selflessness and patriotism that was exhibited on that day should be an inspiration to us all.

Brooks and Dunn – Days of Thunder Lyrics 19 years ago
"That ole ford is sure fast on the draw
Out gunned the chevys and out run the law
Out skirts of town looking down on the light
Waitin for some kind of lightening to strike
The cars and the bars and the songs we knew had changed
The fire burns the site of her still remains".

It is rather:
The fire that burns inside of us still remains.

Brad Paisley – You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive Lyrics 19 years ago
First of all, it is not "In the deep dark hells of eastern Kentucky", but rather HILLS. Also, the song refers to the Richland River, not Richmond River.

Anyone who is familiar with Appalachia knows that where Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia meet is Coal Country, USA. Harlan, Kentucky is the town that coal built. Located on the Cumberland and Martin's Fork Cumberland Rivers between two mountains, the sun really does come up about ten and goes down about three due to the profile of the mountains. Generations of miners have toiled in the Harlan County mines. Many successive generations have lived, worked and died in Harlan, unable to leave town due to the poverty and limited economic opportunities in the region. Many of these miners died in these dangerous and unhealthy conditions, hence, "You will never leave Harlan alive". Quite a sombering song, originally performed by Patty Loveless.

Travis Tritt – Where Corn Don't Grow Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is pretty straightforward. For kids growing up in rural America, there is a great misconception that the city is the answer to all of their problems. A great many farm kids make this mistake and wind up regretting it later on in life.

"Hard times are real,
There's dusty fields,
No matter where you go.
You may change your mind,
'Cause the weeds are high,
Where corn don't grow."

For others, instead of leaving and moving to the city, the city comes to them. Take it from someone who grew up in rural Virginia. The encroaching suburbs of Washington DC have all but destroyed my boyhood home, and with them have come pollution, traffic, gangs, drugs, murders, rampant development, snobby rich people, large numbers of illegal immigrants, an increased cost of living, and a decreased quality of life. Waylon Jennings (who originally sang this song, God rest his soul), Travis Tritt and many other country artists know as I do, that the weed really are high, where corn don't grow.
