| Opeth – Porcelain Heart Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
They just keep outdoing themselves. What a song. I guess we have to await the full concept to really analyse it. But honestly now. This is just a fantastic piece of work. BRUTAL. |

| Porcupine Tree – Start of Something Beautiful Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
crackillz13 you've got it spot on I reckon. Rofl DementedPuppy maybe you were trying to be serious but it didn't work. I lol'd. Scrubs reference was pointless also lol. Blern, I disagree, because the theme of love is too strong for parent/child relationships. This song. IS my life currently. I love it so...SO much. It's just like...exactly what happened to me. And crackillz13 I'm glad you analyzed it like that, because I think that's totally spot on. Kudos. Amazing song. Masterpiece. |

| Porcupine Tree – Space Transmission Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Absolutely spine-tinglingly artistic, this piece. I FREAKED the first time I heard it in pitch black in my bed. It's God speaking. But God has been deformed and mutilated by this being that has enslaved him. Enslaved God. That's incomprehensible. This is a masterpiece. |

| Pain of Salvation – A Trace of Blood Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| in addition, the dryad he refers to in the first verse is the 'dryad of the woods'...in other words, his wife. | |
| Pain of Salvation – A Trace of Blood Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this is based on daniel's experiences, during the recording of entropia ('97 or '98), his wife suffered a mis-carriage, so daniel wrote this song...and since it fit with the theme of the album, he used it | |
| COG – The River Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I personally think this is the best COG song ever made. It's beautiful, and really makes me think about everything. The piece is probably about a post-nuclear-winter-style age of Government tyranny, for example, in which most of the remaining population are living inside some safe zone that the Government are keeping them inside, and are being forced to undertake a...possibly a memory wiping or soothing program? Anyway, I think there is an individual workman, who had worked inside this 'safe zone' for as long as he could remember, and he has seen beyond the Government smokescreen and realised there is more to life than the place he is. Long comment...relatively short...I think he has exited this 'safe zone' through this 'forbidden zone' and ventured out into the world that the Government had shielded everybody from. PERFECT movie script, and although similar to 'The Island', that movie sucked and this would make a better one. |

| Air – Somewhere Between Waking and Sleeping Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
How is it that nobody has commented on this song yet? It's pure bliss. Like an artistic masterpiece expressed in sound. A perfect amount of ambience to actually put you in the place that they want you to be -- 'Somewhere between waking and sleeping'. Beautiful song. From an absolutely amazing band. |

"...had been banished 16 years ago..." *15 years ago, sorry >_> "The sigh of summer upon my return Fifteen alike since I was here" |

| Opeth – Blackwater Park Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This is so freaking powerful this song. I love it so much. Every time "Sick liaisons raised this monumental mark The sun sets forever over Blackwater park" plays. I pee a little. That's how insane it is. So insane. This is the perfect finale to a perfect album. Yes. It is. \m/ |

| Opeth – Moonlapse Vertigo Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Hellfighter, a Moor is indeed a black man in specific cases, but not in this case at all. 'Passing swiftly through the moor' The Moor in this case and I'm almost every other case you'll hear excluding Othello, lol, is a tract of open, peaty wasteland, often overgrown with heath, common in high latitudes and altitudes where drainage is poor. In Moonlapse Vertigo, I believe he is sneaking about the town, as he had been banished 16 years ago, and if any of the town guards catch him they will murder him, which ends up inevitably being the case anyway. Another possibility is that the man is murdering town guards as he sneaks about, no doubt looking for his love, Melinda. "Across the leafy pathway Their deeds smeared in blood For all to behold" An absolutely amazing piece no doubt, and one that sculpted my way into Opeth being my favourite band evarrrrrrrrrrrrr. \m/ |

| Sigur Rós – Syndir Guðs (Opinberun Frelsarans) (English) Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Definitely pro-God/Jesus. It's basically talking about what he did for us. Personally, I'm an Atheist, so I'll leave it up to the religious ones lol. Amazing song. |

| Porcupine Tree – Even Less Lyrics | 19 years ago |

In Arriving Somewhere, the DVD, he sings 'But I'm a martyr to even less', and I think they were the original lyrics prior to the album. Amazing song though. Beautiful. Flawless. |

| Opeth – The Apostle In Triumph Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Is it just me, or does Mikael say 'So Judah fucked it up' at the start? I swear he does. Listen to it, just before the heavy bit comes in with 'IN SOLITUDE I WANDER!' He whispers it, I swear... | |
| Fantômas – Delirium Cordia Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
All those who have quoted "masterpiece", I'm totally, absolutely, completely 100% with you. 1 hour, 14 minutes and 17 seconds of every different emotion your brain can process, all resulting in perfection. First time I listened to this song was on my computer, and after that 20 mins or so of white noise causing you to relax completely, I literally jumped up out of my chair at the end lol. Scared me assless. The bit with the choir at the beginning especially sends shivers down my spine...it's fantastic. Patton is some kind of God. And that kind of God is MY God. \m/ |

| Pain of Salvation – Second Love Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Wrote it when he was 15 actually. Pain of Salvation was formed when he was 11 though, though they were named something different then...like 'Reality' or something, but I'm not entirely sure. No doubt the deepest kind of heartbreak though. Beautiful song...perfect to listen to in times of a break-up to a girl you loved...as I can unfortunately relate to absolutely at the moment. Daniel Gildenlöw...please have my children... |

| Saviour Machine – Jesus Christ Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I agree patryxdeth. It's an unusual interpretation of Jesus as I see it. Christian? Anti-christian? 'You are the reason for the wars that plague the land You are the symbol for the cause in which they stand You are the one who sits there watching as they die You are the son of man that listens as they cry' This sounds like Eric is talking about Jesus being the son of a man (God) who doesn't seem to help by cleaning people of their sins, but do quite the opposite by causing famine and disasters. 'Are you the man who said to turn the other cheek? Are you the one for this appears to be the weak? Are you to lift us from this silent found rebirth? Are you to take us from this stench that fills the earth?' And that sounds like Eric is patronizing God, saying that he is simply a hypocrite who told US to pray and US to toil about religion, where he should in fact be 'setting an example', I guess you could say, instead of causing all this havoc. 'Bring us love Let us see Set us Free' That part totally turns the song around though. Unless 'Let us see' means that Jesus or God should prove that he exists and does take us under his wing when we die, so people have reason to believe in him. Eh, confusing. Good old Eric Clayton and his metaphors. Keep enriching our airwaves Saviour Machine \m/ |

| Opeth – White Cluster Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Maybe being clad in white represents a disrespect for the person in question who is being hanged. Beautiful song, topping off what I believe to be the greatest album of the greatest artists in existence. The concept really drags you in until you seem to be in entrapped in the story. It's like after any good book: you seem to just sit there and indulge in awe at the beauty of it all. Hail Opeth. |
|
| Opeth – To Bid You Farewell Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| In Mikael Åkerfieldt's own words, "I think it's ridiculous to put us into a genre. We've crafted our music through so many genres that now we can practically do what ever we want with it." Now listen to the man. *Hail* | |
| Opeth – Patterns In The Ivy (Part 2) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I agree with LP444ever, and I'm thinking that the Ivy is the plant growing across the person in question's grave or tombstone, maybe? | |
