Manic Street Preachers – Life Becoming A Landslide Lyrics 14 years ago
This song needs more love. I think the above comments pretty much sum it up though. I love the line "My idea of love comes from / a childhood glimpse of pornography." Totally encapsulates how difficult it is these days for people to connect. We should be ashamed.

Tool – Triad Lyrics 14 years ago
Just thought of this (sorry if someone's already put this).

Triad = 3, a trinity. In Christianity, the concept of God is represented as three parts: The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost. God as an entity is represented in these three ways. In the context of Lateralus, perhaps the idea is that through undergoing the philosophies of Reflection, we are able to transcend our humanity and become God. This is furthered by the artwork of the album, where the final layer contains the word God within the human. Also, the song is followed by Faaip De Oiad, latin for Voice of God, signifying the completeness of the process. This is all just theory of course - I feel in a bit of a philosophical mood. Any thoughts?

Beautiful song that has come to me at just the right time.

Porcupine Tree – The Seance Lyrics 14 years ago
I've always thought this was about the family that discovered the body in the river during Octane Twisted. I think they turn to a seance to try and contact the spirit of the dead girl, attempting to find how she died.

Tool – Forty Six & 2 Lyrics 14 years ago
In response to Folkie I can understand why this theory is offensive and racist. I agree with you on that entirely. But it's grossly unfair to blast Oberones for simply explaining what the theory is. He/she never says that this is their personal belief so there is no need for the personal attack. I found the analysis very interesting by the way, even though I don't agree with Jungian theory.

Porcupine Tree – The Incident Lyrics 14 years ago
I think it sounds like "You can't demolish it" but I'm not sure. I wasn't so sure about the album first time around but on second listen it sounds fantastic. If on third listen it's even better that's the sign of a classic.

Thank you for taking the time to type this "bitch" of a set of lyrics.

Throbbing Gristle – Hot On The Heels Of Love Lyrics 14 years ago
Quite possibly, the best song ever.

Eminem – 3 A.M. Lyrics 15 years ago
The first single to actually instill some confidence from me in his new album. This is very good and much more the kind of music I enjoy from Marshall.

R.E.M. – Let Me In Lyrics 15 years ago
Hey were you at the Southampton gig too then? That was amazing.

Morrissey – I'm Not Sorry Lyrics 15 years ago
Strangely, I love the music on this one. A classic Boorer tune augmented with Morrissey's unmistakable lyrics.

Sleeper – Lie Detector Lyrics 15 years ago
Coming from England the accent doesn't quite have the effect.

However, I woke up this morning with this in my head. And suddenly it struck me what it's all about out of nowhere. Of course it's about a bloke suspecting his wife of an affair. And even when she's telling the truth it just makes him more confused. What a great song, a testament to the genius of Louise Wener.

Morrissey – Margaret On The Guillotine Lyrics 15 years ago
When will you die?

Pink Floyd – Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast Lyrics 15 years ago
It's about Alan. Having Breakfast. It happens to be psychedelic.

Also, the reason the LP version repeats infinitely at the end is because it has a lock-groove.

submissions
The Jesus and Mary Chain – Some Candy Talking Lyrics 15 years ago
It's about some candy talking.

Incidentally, the best song ever.

DJ Shadow – GDMFSOB (UNKLE Uncensored) Lyrics 15 years ago
Wow, I was actually right in thinking GDMFSOB stood for god-damn motherfucking son of a bitch. That was a good guess.

R.E.M. – Nightswimming Lyrics 15 years ago
If you ever get to hear them play this live, it is simply enchanting. It's like having an epiphany. Truly their best song (and that's a high benchmark).

Nine Inch Nails – Starfuckers, Inc. Lyrics 15 years ago
"Starfuckers!" is a great thing to shout during an awkward silence.

Nine Inch Nails – Just Like You Imagined Lyrics 15 years ago
I know nobody will read this but I'd simply like to say this is my favourite off The Fragile and I just adore dramatic music like this. Good day to you all.

Björk – An Echo, A Stain Lyrics 16 years ago
I've never heard this song. I just came on here to say that all of these lyrics are taken from Sarah Kane's play Crave and should probably be interpreted within the context of the play.

I recommend Kane's work to everybody, it is truly life changing.

Brilliant.

Marc Almond – Jacky Lyrics 16 years ago
Best song ever. Without a doubt.

submissions
Beth Gibbons – Show Lyrics 16 years ago
The best of her solo songs. I don't think Paul Webb even had a credit on this one, so she did it all herself. Simply brilliant.

submissions
The Cranberries – Still Can't Recognize The Way I Feel Lyrics 16 years ago
It says it's called "Still Can't..." on the cover. Although actually this is probably a better title.

The Stooges – Down On the Street Lyrics 16 years ago
Only The Stooges can do this song.

Oasis – Force of Nature Lyrics 16 years ago
The intro from Nightclubbing really suprised me when I first heard it, I thought my computer had skipped.

Good to see I'm not the only one who thought it was directly nicked.

Coldplay – A Spell a Rebel Yell Lyrics 16 years ago
I think the mixing is perfect. Pushing the vocals to the back gives it a much more experimental feel.

Coldplay – Chinese Sleep Chant Lyrics 16 years ago
Very cool. Eno's done a grand job.

Sleeper – What Do I Do Now? Lyrics 16 years ago
Listen to the Sleeper version, you. That's an order.

submissions
Nine Inch Nails – Memorabilia Lyrics 16 years ago
I love Soft Cell and so am a fan of that version. I will listen to the NIN version soon but please don't slate the original.

Also, I believe Marc Almond was gay so that's likely to effect all your pathetic interpretations in some homophobic way.

submissions
Morrissey – Get Off The Stage Lyrics 16 years ago
Everybody I know seems to prefer the Rolling Stones to Morrissey and I cannot understand this at all. I don't dislike the Rolling Stones, they just don't do anything for me. One of my friends actually hates Morrissey and loves the Stones which is ridiculous as Morrissey is by far the greatest lyricist ever.

Tricky – Hell Is Round the Corner Lyrics 16 years ago
The background noise is obviously a vinyl crackle. This is not at all unusual giving that the song is based on Ike's Rap.

Portishead – Threads Lyrics 16 years ago
The Fates in Greek mythology govern the destinies of all living things, by a mystical thread. The first, Clotho, spins the thread; the second, Lachesis, measures its length and thus the length of a life; the third, Atropos, severs it when a life is to cease.

The Libertines – Radio America Lyrics 16 years ago
The poor production value really adds to the sound doesn't it? In a good way, I mean.

Vampire Weekend – Oxford Comma Lyrics 16 years ago

The Smiths – I Won't Share You Lyrics 16 years ago
First off, this wasn't the last song they recorded, that was I Keep Mine Hidden. Also, I only just noticed for the first time there's harmonica at the end.

More classic lyrics from Dorian Cox.

The Dykeenies – Clean Up Your Eyes Lyrics 16 years ago

The Dykeenies – New Ideas Lyrics 16 years ago
Probably the best Dykeenies song. They're really good live, although I don't think the first album captures them well.
