Manic Street Preachers – Life Becoming A Landslide Lyrics
| 14 years ago

This song needs more love. I think the above comments pretty much sum it up though. I love the line "My idea of love comes from / a childhood glimpse of pornography." Totally encapsulates how difficult it is these days for people to connect. We should be ashamed. |

Tool – Triad Lyrics

Just thought of this (sorry if someone's already put this).
Triad = 3, a trinity. In Christianity, the concept of God is represented as three parts: The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost. God as an entity is represented in these three ways. In the context of Lateralus, perhaps the idea is that through undergoing the philosophies of Reflection, we are able to transcend our humanity and become God. This is furthered by the artwork of the album, where the final layer contains the word God within the human. Also, the song is followed by Faaip De Oiad, latin for Voice of God, signifying the completeness of the process. This is all just theory of course - I feel in a bit of a philosophical mood. Any thoughts? |

Porcupine Tree – The Seance Lyrics

I've always thought this was about the family that discovered the body in the river during Octane Twisted. I think they turn to a seance to try and contact the spirit of the dead girl, attempting to find how she died. |

Tool – Forty Six & 2 Lyrics

In response to Folkie I can understand why this theory is offensive and racist. I agree with you on that entirely. But it's grossly unfair to blast Oberones for simply explaining what the theory is. He/she never says that this is their personal belief so there is no need for the personal attack. I found the analysis very interesting by the way, even though I don't agree with Jungian theory. |

Porcupine Tree – The Incident Lyrics

I think it sounds like "You can't demolish it" but I'm not sure. I wasn't so sure about the album first time around but on second listen it sounds fantastic. If on third listen it's even better that's the sign of a classic. |

The first single to actually instill some confidence from me in his new album. This is very good and much more the kind of music I enjoy from Marshall. |

Strangely, I love the music on this one. A classic Boorer tune augmented with Morrissey's unmistakable lyrics. |

Sleeper – Lie Detector Lyrics

Coming from England the accent doesn't quite have the effect.
However, I woke up this morning with this in my head. And suddenly it struck me what it's all about out of nowhere. Of course it's about a bloke suspecting his wife of an affair. And even when she's telling the truth it just makes him more confused. What a great song, a testament to the genius of Louise Wener. |

If you ever get to hear them play this live, it is simply enchanting. It's like having an epiphany. Truly their best song (and that's a high benchmark). |

Björk – An Echo, A Stain Lyrics

I've never heard this song. I just came on here to say that all of these lyrics are taken from Sarah Kane's play Crave and should probably be interpreted within the context of the play.
I recommend Kane's work to everybody, it is truly life changing. |

Beth Gibbons – Show Lyrics

The best of her solo songs. I don't think Paul Webb even had a credit on this one, so she did it all herself. Simply brilliant. |

The intro from Nightclubbing really suprised me when I first heard it, I thought my computer had skipped.
Good to see I'm not the only one who thought it was directly nicked. |

I love Soft Cell and so am a fan of that version. I will listen to the NIN version soon but please don't slate the original.
Also, I believe Marc Almond was gay so that's likely to effect all your pathetic interpretations in some homophobic way. |

Morrissey – Get Off The Stage Lyrics

Everybody I know seems to prefer the Rolling Stones to Morrissey and I cannot understand this at all. I don't dislike the Rolling Stones, they just don't do anything for me. One of my friends actually hates Morrissey and loves the Stones which is ridiculous as Morrissey is by far the greatest lyricist ever. |

Portishead – Threads Lyrics

The Fates in Greek mythology govern the destinies of all living things, by a mystical thread. The first, Clotho, spins the thread; the second, Lachesis, measures its length and thus the length of a life; the third, Atropos, severs it when a life is to cease. |

First off, this wasn't the last song they recorded, that was I Keep Mine Hidden. Also, I only just noticed for the first time there's harmonica at the end. |

The Dykeenies – New Ideas Lyrics

Probably the best Dykeenies song. They're really good live, although I don't think the first album captures them well. |
