I think that the singer (Tegan, of course) found out her respective other (girlfriend/maybe girlfriend/ect) was cheating on her while she was off on tour. And she didn't want it to ruin their relationship because she is just so alone she needs any person who will have her. Anyway you look at this song, its about losing someone that means alot to you. Personally I had a best friend who had lost her mom a long time ago, and then lost her dad a couple months ago. We were really good friends up until she lost her dad. I was there for her, and gave her space. But she ignored me, and went to her other friends who I knew did not care about her dad dying. For a long time I felt like it was my fault, and this is the song I associate with what happened. Cause if I had known how to save a life, maybe shed still be my friend. So in all retrospect, you could mold the song into any relationship or loss. |
