It's actually about a boy who she liked but who didn't like her back. What I don't understand are the lines "Of course you would pursue me, I was Julia Roberts
I mean, how could you resist?" Is that supposed to be sarcasm?? |

The pool shark line refers to how really good pool players call out what balls they are going to knock in/what they are going to do with the balls on the table before they make the shot. When TI says this it just means he's damn good at what he does and is good enough to say what he wants to happen and then do it. |

I think that the song is about how he's feeling guilty and regretful about taking the easy way out of his problems (debt, whatever). I, like some of you, think that he had to kill somebody in order to repay his debt or for some other reason, and instead of trying to find a reasonable way out of his problems he killed this person. After killing him, he realizes what a terrible thing killing a person is and is regretting doing it and is hoping that someday, somehow the person he killed will comeback in some way (maybe not physically but you get the point). And after killing this person he's trying to convince his girlfriend to come SOMEWHERE that seems like the promise land ("sand is turning to gold") and once he gets there he realizes that its not everything he thought it would be. |

this song reminds me of my relationship with one of my friends. She lives in san diego, i live in milwaukee wi. The line "even land locked lovers yearn for the sea like navy men" really means a lot because i think im in love with her. |

i love this song. I have the a capella version by NYU's Mass Transit, the original song, and then a radiohead cover. This song is just beautiful, i could listen to it all day. About somebody whos depressed and realizes that if they want to be happy they have to do something about it instead of wallowing in their self pity. |

even though this is a newer tom petty song i still love it. I think its about a guy whos had huge problems in life: money problems "more dogs than bones": a dog is a fight or problem and bone is a reference to a dollar so he has more fights with people than money. and decides to go home (you can take the boy from the small town, but you cant take the small town from the boy concept)
ps. i LOVE this song |

matt is awesome, great guy, amazing live, this song is about a relationship thats not working out, the girl points out the positive things in the relationship ("show me where the sun comes through the sky") and the guy points out whats wrong with the relationship and why they should break it off ("ill show you where the rain gets in")...thats all i feel like typing...it seems like every song matt sings is my life in brief... |

well for starters i doubt that you had a 4.0 gpa and didnt get to go to college because you couldnt pay for it. See there are these things called scholarships, colleges give money to smart people so that they come attend their school, either youre an idiot and dont know about these things or youre an idiot and lying about something. Secondly, im not rich, im actually dirt poor since my mom has to pay for lawyers so that she and i dont get fucked over by my asshole dad in their divorce. Lastly, go listen to ashlee simpson you homo. I thought that they didnt let queers into the armed forces...guess i was wrong. |

great song, its about dealing drugs (which makes it all the more interesting)....a key is a kilogram of cocaine, and T.I. has three of them in a louis vuitton backpack hes taking to the projects referred to as the Jects to sell, he has his loaded .44 caliber hand guns, or should i say cannons with pistol grips hidden incase things go wrong he can blow a bitches head off while smoking very expensive hydroponically grown marijuana- referred to as "dro"..driving his '64 chevy impala with a candy (very glossy) paint job he has a huge diamond ring on his pinky....then he says that you should never carry drugs on you, not even q's which are an eigth of an ounce, a small amount, im not sure but i think that hes shooting his 44's out of his drop top impala and the cops are coming and he tells whoever's driving to pull over and he steals a bentley coupe and later takes it to the chop shop to be sold |

great song to say the least...about the vets who were pretty much shit on because of what they were forced to do...my us history teacher started talking about this song the other day and called Bruce a "gung-ho patriot" who was "pro american ra! ra! only buy american goods not foreign imports attitude" and i wanted to get up and punch her in the fucking face....she is so dumb...so i raised my hand and mark my words said "yeah actually youre wrong. that song isnt about extravagent patriotism, its about how all of the soldiers came back from vietnam and were fucked over...youre just simply wrong try reading the lyrics next time"...she sent me to the library because i was "being disruptive to the class"...i think she was just mad because shes an idiot and i proved her wrong...again...god i hate that woman.... |

oh my god....is "richie valens" no longer a household name? God you people are rediculous..marconi: laid the basis for the radio, in the song is just a general reference to the radio. La bamba, a FAMOUS song written by richie valens, who later tragically died in a plane crash, and was an icon for teenagers of the 50's. The song is basically about the lifestyle of rock n roll teenagers (and teenagers who become famous rock n roll stars) from running away, getting arrested, THE Man and his corporations etc etc.....wow im 16 and i know what la bamba is...pathetic what the youth of today is becoming: wiggers who listen to their jay z and britney spears and garbage, learn your roots you noobs |

for me at least, i dont think the song is about a close friend dying, i think its about them moving away or going to college after graduation and how that one night where you know its the last time youll hold your girlfriend before you go to college on opposite coasts of the country. As for the 'heaven' he sings about, i think hes referring to California. They have written a lot of songs about/involving California, and going off of the college on different parts of the country, maybe hes going to college out east and she is going somewhere in california. Idk just my take on the song |

I think you all completley missed the meaning of this song....i think its about the "un-cool" and "un-popular" kids (like myself) who enjoy stuff like chess club and math club and computers and are the so called "nerds, freaks, and geeks" of the school and how they are ridiculed by the higschool community, but when our ahem i mean their 4.0 gpa's get them into cal-tech and stanford and the jock-assholes go to community college and go no-where with their life, the "nerds" will be the ones laughing because they will go on to do great things. Basically: US NERDS WILL RULE THE WORLD SO BE NICE TO US |
