FANTASTIC job translating the meaning, rather than just the words. One error, though: it should be "No need to hide behind sunglasses / Nobody recognizes you". But other than that - nice. I know French fairly well, but since I don't live there, slang goes right over my head. |

Love this song. Being only on the B-side (or whatever it's called on CD's) of Queer Pt. 2 makes it pretty obscure, though, at least for now. Still, I love how this song is so aggressive and so vulnerable at the same time (obviously, "Be careful with me" can be interpreted both ways). I especially love how Manson's voice becomes so desperate in the last few verses. Plus the music (especially the electric opening, which is repeated later on) is unforgettable. |

Great song - probably my favorite on the album, and that's saying quite a bit. I loved it from the moment I heard "I've got a fever, come check it and see" - it's so provocative, like a classy/trashy way of saying "come here and touch me". "So ripe, so sweet, come suck it and see" is even more explicit - and sexy.
As for the meaning, on the surface it just seems to be about how...well, I'm not speaking too much from personal experience, but women don't really seem to go after the "good" guys, even if they say that's what they like. On the other hand, maybe she's singing to a "good" guy, and she just wants things to be more exciting. To quote Vampire Willow, "Wanna be bad?" |

| Garbage – Happy Home Lyrics

It seems clear to me that the singer here is dying. "No more crying, no more pain", "sweet, short life". I can't figure out more than that.
The end of the song is amazing, and really different for Garbage - not the sound itself, but the presence of such a long musical coda is. The bittersweet lyrics (I love "In my happy home, I barely breathe") only sweeten (bittersweeten?) the deal. Except for maybe "Milk", this is my favorite end to a Garbage album. |

| Garbage – Why Don't You Come Over Lyrics

It sounds to me like a person who's involved with someone rebellious and naturally inclined to be a rulebreaker, and has basically assumed a part of this other person's identity and tried to live the same way. But it seems at this point, she's admitting that it's not her (she's especially tired of being the one who actually does the bad stuff: "you were baking biscuits"), and it's time for the other person to reciprocate and try being good for a while (hence the invitation in the title and chorus). The second verse describes the partner's personality, while the third seems to show that she's not really too optimistic about their chances of staying together (and not sorry about that, either). |

| Jim Croce – King's Song Lyrics

This song can be taken literally, in a feudal setting, or metaphorically, in a more modern setting. It speaks to anyone who had someone they love give them everything they should have except themselves. A traditional, 50s-ish father figure comes to mind.
Personally, I imagine this song in a literal sense, being sung by a minstrel, who of course reveals herself to be the former queen. On a side note, it seems fairly uncommon for a male singer to sing the "part" of a woman (not that I'm complaining - I love this song), whereas the inverse is pretty common. Maybe I'm just listening to the wrong music. |

I'd assumed it was an actual suicide - the steel implying a knife or razor of some sort. It doesn't really matter, I suppose. But what I like about the song is the implication, especially in the second verse, that the singer could have prevented this tragedy. If she'd been a bit clearer about her affection ("this cold shoulder"), maybe this could have been averted. On the other hand, "hands could never comfort you" - maybe it was inevitable. A shame, really. |

Beautiful song. I just got 7, and the LND songs are a big highlight (LNDP3 was already a favorite of mine). The liner notes say that they're intended as an alternate theme to one of the Dracula movies, which explains the rather morbid lyrics. But even not knowing that, it's a beautiful, sad song. |

Pretty song. I don't know exactly what she's sorry about (gave him up for adoption, maybe? "I had to be cruel to be kind"), but I like it anyway. I love how the line "thinking of you" is sung. |

I'm not sure what the parts referring to another person are about (i.e., the "shattered" parts), but much of the rest of it seems to be about maturing, at least in my mind. She's ready to move forward in her life, and doesn't want to be held back. But the line that I like the best is, "All the things that seemed once to be / so important to me / seem so trivial now that I can see." |

This is a beautiful, beautiful, BEAUTIFUL song. Why it's not on any album, I can't imagine. When I heard it, I got the feeling I'd heard it before...wonder why. Anyway, this is my favorite of all the songs added in the "Complete Sessions" albums. It's just that good. |

I don't dance when I hear this song because that would make me a danger to society (you'd have to see me to believe it...I broke a ceiling lamp the other day doing just that). BUT, I do love this song. First of all, the music rocks. Then the vocals (the ones without words) kick in, and everythings perfect. Then O'Riordan starts yelling these lines, and it only gets better. Energy is what it's all about. |

I actually love this song. I find it sweet and peaceful, but full of regret. I love the line, "I wanted to be so perfect." I imagine the feeling in this song being felt by someone actually dying - and wondering why he/she wasted time during life focusing on things that weren't important. |

It's funny to hear a song so angry be sung so happily. It's a strange combination of light-heartedness and utter hatred. I like it. I love the phrase, "A waste of space." In my opinion, that's one of the worst things you could say about somebody...if only because you likely mean it, unlike most insults. |

This is a cover of a Fleetwood Mac song, and it's found on the "Complete Sessions" version of "To the Faithful Departed." Since some of the lyrics are fuzzy, I lifted this from the Fleetwood Mac page (submitted by oofus) and altered the parts that are different in this version. |

Absolutely fantastic song - the wordless vocals are just stunning - right up there with "Dreams." It's much sadder than "Dreams," but that's not a bad thing. It's an excellent end for the album. In fact, all the albums other than "Wake up and smell the coffee" end with beautiful, sad songs. Not that I mind "Africa," but it doesn't follow the trend of being sad. |

Definitely my favorite song on this album. I just wish the verse that starts "Don't analyse" were repeated in the second half (after "We will pray, we will stay together") - it's a very pretty verse, and all the others get repeated (if slightly altered), so it seems like it's missing. I always add it back in when singing it in my head. It's a minor complaint, though. I love the song. |

This is a beautiful song - a gem on the album, really. Doesn't the word "Sarajevo" just sound naturally musical? I especially love the creepy line, "Sure things could change if we really wanted them to." Also, though I could be wrong, I interpret one the lines toward the end as, "For the love of life," which strikes me a beautiful line. I expect "For the love of God" when hearing it, but then it turns out to be "life," which just seems like a more emotional plea. |

I rather enjoy this song - it's very pleasant and sunny, despite the bleak underpinnings ("We will all decay"). To me, it's a "live for the moment" message. |

| Apoptygma Berzerk – Something I Should Know Lyrics

Along with Spindizzy, this is my favorite track on the album. It starts off slow but quickly dives into the amazingly fun beat. Then the vocals, which to me sound even better than usual, kick in with these addictively simple verses that I just love. To be more specific, what I most love about them is belting them out at the top of my lungs when no one's around - whether I have the music playing or not. It's so much fun it should be illegal.
Oh, and don't you dare forget about the bonus track - well worth the wait (or fast-forward). First, we have a male-only version of the chorus from Unicorn (frankly I slightly prefer the original, though it's not really all that different). Then, an entertaining music section which is nice, although I don't exactly love it with a fiery passion. Finally, after it seems to be all over, we're brought back to a female-only version of the chorus from Spindizzy, which I DO love with a fiery passion. It repeats several times until it fades out, and it's just a beautiful end to the album.
The only thing bad about the song (aside from the giant gap) is that the lyrics aren't especially long. Ah, but when they're that good and sung that well, I don't mind that much. Though I certainly would love a rendition with about eight new verses if it's not too much trouble... |
