Peter Gabriel – The Book of Love (Magnetic Fields cover) Lyrics 9 years ago
@[mikesena:3138]

I see you there! Lol, it pays to keep one central email address for all of time.

I can't believe I was still in high school when I wrote this post, so I don't think I could tell you what I meant by it then, save that I think I had a story in my head with the song being from the woman's pov and realizing it wasn't threw me for a loop.

Congratulations on your coming nuptials!

The Long Winters – Cinnamon Lyrics 16 years ago
I think that something bad happened to her, she got hurt or something, and he was trying to take her to the hospital, that's why he kept begging his car to please start, and I think he got in an accident on the way to the hospital, now her body's missing, and he has amnesia, and is only remembering slight details. Her skin reminds him of cinnamon, he remembers trying to get his car to start. He remembers a trip they took together, but he doesn't remember losing her (her dying most likely)

Muse – Soldier's Poem Lyrics 17 years ago
I don't just think it sounds like Elvis' Can't Help Falling in Love, I'm pretty sure that intro IS Can't Help Falling in Love

Meat Loaf – Cry Over Me Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is probably my favorite Meat Loaf song, so of course let me give the obligatory, I can't believe no one's commented on this song yet, anyway...to me the song is special to me because there was someone I had really deep feelings for for a very long time, and it killed me that the person never felt the same way about me, and it was frusterating and at least one point in time, I said to myself, just once I wish YOU would cry over ME and then a year or two later this song came out and it really helped me express my feelings at elast to myself.

The Killers – Under the Gun Lyrics 18 years ago
Ok I definently agree with Screenplays interpretation

and the way I've always interpreted the "...she can't stop telling lies"
line is that she promised him they'd always be together, but now she's left him by dying

U2 – The Wanderer Lyrics 18 years ago
Honestly I think he says a Bible and a Gun because he was searching for God in this sad world we live in today, and this is a dangerous world...therefore he went looking for God with his Bible and a gun to protect himself.

The first time I heard this song was after Cash passed away, and I really don't know any other songs by him, but This song and Ring of Fire, are quickly getting me hooked on his music....anway...since the first time I heard it was a few weeks ago, and since Walk the Line just came out, Though I haven't seen it, when I heard the line:
Now Jesus, don't you wait up
Jesus, I'll be home soon :
I almost cried....I don't even know anythign about Johnny Cash and that made me sad to hear him sing that.

Wow...I had really hoped someone was going to explain things to me...but if he's saying you ought to give me wedding rings...then that puts the whole song into a new perspective.

The Killers – Andy, You're a Star Lyrics 18 years ago
To me it sounds like this:
"Brandon" was in high school and he probably wasn't too cool or popular and the big football star was probably really nice to him one day. Making "bandon" believe they were now the best of friends.

The shut up may have come at a later point in time when Andy, the football player (maybe not football), could no longer take him following him everywhere.

Obviously "Brandon" is stalking him, and I believe that hte reason he says don't tell me she's your world is that he doesn't think she's good enough for his hero.

that's just my two cents anyway

Tom Petty – Free Fallin' Lyrics 19 years ago
One more thing I would like to add, and not that it's about this song really. More about Tom's music. I don't acctually think hardly any of his songs are about drugs. I'll admit some of the may be such as Mary Jane's Last Dance, but I have my own opinion about that one which I will post there later. The one song I'm sure everyone would argue that it's about drugs is Don't Come Around Here No More, but that one isn't really. Just the video. Forgive me for talking about other songs on this songs page. Just wanted to say that before I forgot.

Tom Petty – Free Fallin' Lyrics 19 years ago
Ever since I first found this website, I've been trying to put ino words what I think Free Fallin' means. But, now I think I have an idea. And I believe you can only truly understand what this song means when there's a real major crisis going on in your life. A loss of a loved one. A divorce/breakup. Or maybe a very bad argument with a close friend. But what the words seem to say to me, is that he had a great girl, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with her, but for some reason he just had to break it off. After he lost her I think she might have done something, either started going out with another guy, or killed herself, and now that she's out of his reach, with no way of getting her back he realizes how much he does love her, even though at first he didn't even miss her. I think that's why he feels like he's in free fall. That's kind of how you feel when somehting like that happens. It really feels like you've left the world because it's all you can think about, and things in this world don't really matter anymore. That's why he wants to write her name in the sky, he wants to do anything he can to get the girl he loves back.

Tom Petty – Here Comes My Girl Lyrics 19 years ago
Does it seem to anyone else that a lot of Petty's music from the 70s/80s is about his wife. Especially this song. It's sad because it seems like he really loved her. Now he has to sing all these songs that seem to be about her all the time.

Baz Luhrmann – Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen) Lyrics 19 years ago
I believe it is just a pretty good song in general, spoken word, article, whatever, that's not the point, the words are the point. I also heard it at the end of Big Kahuna, BTW. And, I have the seven minute long version, and he says class of 99.
