My take on this song is that it starts two people who used to be friends, as they seem to not know what to say to each other at the beginning. They seem to have had a huge falling out along the way because both refused to listen to each other, with the 'Pray to God he hears you'. It seems to go between both of their perspectives, with them talking about how they tried to get each other to listen. In the end, they seem to realize that amidst all the arguing and stuff, their relationship wasn't going to work, with the 'I lost a friend somewhere along in the bitterness'. I hope this makes sense. |
