One of my fav Casualties songs for sure It's about not caring when people preach to you or tell you how to do things - especially when they don't even know you do whatever you want the way you want it! it's about making your own rules |
|
| The Casualties – Fallen Heroes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song is pretty straight forward it's about how people idolize rock stars and movie stars.. and those are the wrong people to idolize or consider heroes All the want is money, drugs, sex and alcohol they are not "humble or caring" and how they think they are above everyone else and all they really care is making more money |

| Rancid – 7 Years Down Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
hey ska-face hmm I was pretty positive the lyric "they said you don't belong here, fuck you mohican" which was a reference to him having a mohawk let me insert something here "MOHICAN: A hairstyle in which the entire scalp is shaved, save a strip of hair from the forehead to the neck. This is usually dyed and/or spiked up. also known as the mohawk " but the meaning is pretty much what cranefist said |

| Sleater-Kinney – One Beat Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Allright, here's waht I got off an interview w/Venus Mag: A lot of this record{also applies to the song One Beat}, from a personal standpoint, is about this synergistic energy created between the three of us and sort of refocusing on the dynamic, this language that exists between the three of us. And trying to have a sense of unification. And I think One Beat sort of symbolizes a coming together of forces. It’s the underlying force of the album. |
|
| Le Tigre – Tell You Now Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| good, that's what I had thought about. I had thought it was about Kathleen's bad experience. It made me so proud of her to be able to get over it and say fuck you and get ahead. I love this woman! She gives me strenght! Best woman songwriter ever! | |
| Le Tigre – Viz Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I thought that it was about how women and lesbians are becoming visible in our world and we're getting noticed and respected in a sense. We're not something that has to be invisible anymore "You call it Climbing..." like we're climbing the ladder and having better positions and such. We're not being called scum and lesbians are not being dissed as much "You call it coolness" cause so many assholes out there love girl-on-girl action and there's dumb bitches who would do that kind of shit for guys for the sheer purpose of attention. "Way too rowdy.." it's because it's controversial, like for the elections and how you can still fire someone cause of their sexuality... but I don't know, that's how I see the song. | |
| Le Tigre – Viz Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I love this song!! All I've heard is that it's named Viz instead of visibilty to have some connection with the term Lez for lesbian, of course. | |
| Le Tigre – Eau d'Bedroom Dancing Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Okay! This is what Kathleen had to say about the song: "I've always felt frustrated listening to a band and dancing, and there's some knucklehead who comes up and says, 'Oh, hey, I love how you dance,'" explains the 33-year-old Hanna, who's been the reigning feminist of the indie-rock scene since it exploded ten years ago. "I think, 'Did I ask for that because I was standing in front having such a good time?' And then, 'Maybe I'll stand in the back and dance,' or 'Maybe I'll stay home and listen to the record and dance in my room by myself.'... It's that sort of feeling that even in leisure time you're still on the clock and being looked at through the male gaze--to turn a little Feminist 101 phrase on you," she adds with a laugh. |

| Dead Kennedys – I Kill Children Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| It's satire, plain and simple. | |
| Dead Kennedys – Kill The Poor Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
the writer Mr. Swift. An awesome story on satire. It's about how the country is sooo poor that they will begin to sell children and people so they can be eaten. Yeah, song's jsut about how the rich people see the poor. They're the reason for crime, and they're lost money from their paychecks. If we got rid of them, ti'd be so much better. Satire from the DK, they're fantastic at it |

| The Clash – I Fought the Law (The Crickets cover) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| nothing will happen to him because he is the law. Just to further beat on our fucked up capitalistic system. | |
| The Clash – I Fought the Law (The Crickets cover) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Okay, so this is what the DK did. They heard the Clash's version of what would happen to a middleclass man, and then they re-did for what would happen to a man w/connections. I will further explain. The Clash's version is about a guy who works, and obvioulsy doesn't make enough money to support his wife and such. So he goes and robs people for money that he needs. He gets caught, gets sent to jail and that's it, it's over. It's on how the gov don't do anything about low wages, it drives the people to do bad things, and send them to jail. The DK version. A laid-back guy who has no worries at all because he's got people who got his back. the guy from the song killed George and Harvey and nothing happened is in mockery. Of how if you know the gov and cops and politicians, you can get away with even the biggest scams and law breaks because they're buddies. They'll just look away. So he goes further to say he's the leader of the KKK and the cops say it's okay. Eventhough the KKK is still around, they're watched closely, but a lot of cops are part of the KKK, and the guy in the song is a cop. So the song sees the cop's point of view and how he can do anything and nothing will happen to him. |

| The Clash – Spanish Bombs Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| its "yo te quiero infinito, yo te quiera corazon" means I will care and love you infinitely, I will love you sweethart. Let's recall that later the Clash attempted to sing in Spanish "Should I stay or Should I go?" and they sang Spanish just as horribly then. They translated everything literally word-by-word. | |
| The Clash – Should I Stay or Should I Go Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Hahaha does no one find the Spanish weird? Do you all think he purposedly translated it like crap to say he didn't really care as much as it sounded about the relationship? It seems kinda half-assed for Joe Strummer to not hve done his research. I agree Combat Rock was not the greatest, but this is a song I like to dance to. Since no one's commented I will. "Should I cool it or should I blow? Yo me frio o lo soplo" Okay, frio means cool, but you don't use it like that when you say "cool it man" or something. That word is only used when you say "it's cold" And soplo means "to blow" like when you blow at something. You never use it when you say you're gonna leave. "Si me voy va a ver peligro" "Si me quedo es doble" are two sentences that don't make any sense in the Spanish language. "Sabes que ropa me queda" is another one that makes more sense, but it's horrible Spanish. They're translated word by word correctly, but once in context like that they don't make sense. Wrong sentence structure and bad use of tenses. Oh by the way, it's Mexico Spanish not Spain Spanish. Hah, it's funny how you guys try to put the Spanish in and can't write it... a lot of those words in the lyrics don't even exist. Anyway, whenever this song comes on my friend thinks Joe's Spanish is hilarious. |

| The Clash – Koka Kola Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song is about how in the early days, when Coke first came out they use to put cocaine in it. Not cocaine really, but it was something taken from the coka plant (so it's pretty much cocaine). It was a drink that contained no alcohol, but they had to put something to get people hooked so they used cocaine. It was called the "temperance drink" because the temperance movement was really big. Anyways for those of you that don't know what the temperance movement was, it was a bunch of battered wives trying to get rid of alcohol because of the effect it had their men(violence). Hence the lyric "Treat me nice, says the party girl". "koke adds life were there isn't any..." is because the Coca-Cola company use to say that the drink would alleviate all your problems and make you feel good, which of course, did. Coca-cola, in turn, made vast amounts of money, and the song is pretty much on how some people would take any extreme for money, "if you really want some more." "Clinical precision" is because you have to put in the correct amount, you don't want people over-dosing, and you didn't want them not getting an effect from the coke. | |
| The Clash – White Riot Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| ah yes, finally someone w/some sense. There you go shadowwiththeeyes you got it perfectly fine. Black people can riot for their rights, while the whites stay home because they're too goody good and are afraid of breaking the law, eventhough they know the gov is harassing. | |
| Dead Kennedys – California Über Alles Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Very interesting. Hah, it's on how Jerry Brown seemed to be a real nice guy and promised a lot of crap (as most politicians seem to do) and then once he's president he'll just begin to corrupt our country. He'd begin by wanting to have California be the best and "over all" or "above everything" in the US. Just like the German's began. They were to be destined for power, and first was Poland and pretty soon all of England(or most) was theirs and then you begin to not just California, but a certain race over all and such. He's to take any method to have California over all, and you must smile and better be happy, or else. "Come quietly...pretty flower" is what was done to the Jews in the death camps like Auschwitz. First they were told it was a place to escape the Jewish hate in Germany. Once they were there, they were told about taking a shower, they were even ask to fold their clothes so they wouldn't get wrinkled after the shower. They died, collected their hair, teeth, and such. Nazi's even used and actually sold lamps w/the shade made-out of human skin. "You can listen to politicians, they'll lead you astray." -Cockney Rejects |

| Sleater-Kinney – One Beat Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| freaking awesome song. I believe it's how they are breakthroughs (feminism anyway). How their music and women getting ahead is amazing, yet controversial. What we can do is yet to be seen! | |
| Sleater-Kinney – Burn, Don't Freeze! Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This is my favorite Sleater-Kinney song!! I know what she means... sometimes you just don't want to let go. You want to keep love going and getting better, but you can't force someone to love no matter how. You could wish on it all you want and such, but in the end there's somethin wrong with the person you're with and you can't change the way they feel. It's weird, like one day they're okay, and then they're changed, and there's no plausible explanation. And they hesitate to tell you why, they might give you a bullshit answer. So you get pissed, but at the same time you think of how gfeat it was w/that person, and you have different feelings all the time. In the end though, it's over. And then you're too scared to fall in love agian for you know what it can do to you. So yes, big reminder of a relationship, but it's what the song's about. | |
| Sleater-Kinney – Oh! Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Huh? I didn't think of masturbation either. I thought of a relationship. It seems that sleater-Kinney seems to fall real deep into relationships, like in "Burn, Don't Freeze" and others... | |
| Bikini Kill – Rebel Girl Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Le Tigre and Bikini Kill completely rock!! This was the first song I heard w/connection to Joan Jett! After this I was hooked on Bikini Kill's fantastic lyrics, and Kathleen Hanna's beautiful way of thinking! "Backstage everyone wants a piece of JD" is one of the lyrics to Punker Plus, but I'd be wanting a chance to speak to Kathleen!! | |
| Bikini Kill – Strawberry Julius Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| My favorite Bikini Kill song!! By far!! I love how it's constructed so well on so many levels!! Kathleen Hanna has truly become one of my idols! | |
| Bikini Kill – Rebel Girl Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| yes I agree it is an amazing song. This was the first song I heard from them, and then I was hooked on Kathleen Hanna's beautiful way of thinking. Le Tigre is amazing as well!!! Women can kick ass!! | |
| Bikini Kill – Suck My Left One Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Well correction, Gerti Rouge from the song "Young Girls" or the end of "The Blackest Years." It's about one of her friends who was raped by her father and the mother knew. The mother was even a psychologist, but she didn't do jack. Then Brody and her mother went to talk to the girl, who in the end committed suicide. | |
| Bikini Kill – Suck My Left One Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| yes not just that. It's how about some mothers know what the father is doing to their child, but all they do it turn their face away. Like Gerti Rouge by The Distillers, all they can do it turn away, and your mother still excepts you to treat your father and everyone else kindly and politely. | |
