Because the musicians that made all the music that has enhanced your lives over the years.......RRRRRRRRRRRREAL fucking high on drugs." |

| R.E.M. – We Walk Lyrics

Jean-Paul Marat was one of the radical Jacobin leaders of the French Revolution, and was an essential figure involved in developing the Reign of Terror. He was stabbed to death while lying in his bathtub by Charlotte Corday, who was a supporter of the Girondist faction. The most famous painting of the Revolution, which depicts a murdered Marat in his tub, was made by Jacques-Louis David.
As for its relation to the song, I'm not really sure. Maybe someone commits the same crime, leaves the building and runs (walks) for it through the woods. Whatever it means, it reminds me of my brother. R.E.M. is one of his favorite bands, and this is his favorite song by them. |

| Johnny Cash – Hurt (Nine Inch Nails cover) Lyrics
| 20 years ago

The Nine Inch Nails version is so much more powerful than Cash's, but you have to listen to the entire Downward Spiral album to appreciate that. I love Johnny Cash and his version of the song. It does fit his life fairly well. However, the words are what makes the song so heart-wrenching. And these words were written by Trent Reznor of NIN, who is a masterful songwriter. Actually the debate shouldn't be which version is better, but the fact that Justin TImberlake, someone who nobody will remember for musical talent (or remember at all for that matter) won best music video over Cash. Just goes to show you what the MTV people and its spawned generation have "become." |

I definitely agree with you suburbangraffiti. And do you want to know what pisses me off? Whenever I play this song and my sister is around and the main melody kicks in she always asks "oh is this Chevelle." And i always am like no chevelle got their song from this one. She just kinda rolls her eyes at me. I like Chevelle, but Deftones are a way more raw, original, and talented band. BQAD is a much better song than Send the pain below. |

Even though everybody has heard this song and it has tremendous popularity, it is still my favorite by the group. Mainly because of the beginning before he starts screaming (even though i like that too). I love the music and how Chino's voice fits with it so well. |

A great song to point the finger at an ego maniac. People who can't see past themselves, and whether they will ever realize it or not, they are preventing their growth as human beings. |

| Tool – Third Eye Lyrics

This is probably my favorite song, ever. And Tool is without a doubt the best band today. I would give anything to see this song played live. On Salival, this and Pushit are major standouts. I love the beginning with the tribal drum beats, and the nightmarish, screeching guitar. It builds up so much tension, and you're just sitting there listening to it in awe, but also like a kid who can't control himself. I've always wanted to take some kind of hallucinogen and just sit there and take this song in. I know I would be on cloud 9. |

I agree with you Berdwin, and I don't think there is much more of a meaning to it besides what you described. It's more of a let the music do the talking type of song. When I listen to it, I usually do not pay attention to what Maynard is saying but how beautiful his voice sounds, and adds another instrument to the mix.
I've read that this is the band favorite on the album.
And its amazing to see live. Trust me. |

| Nine Inch Nails – Something I Can Never Have Lyrics

I have become a huge NIN fan within these past few years, and I have never seen anyone who can write such angst filled songs that can get you pumped up and ready to take on the world. And then also, write the most beautiful, yet heartbreaking songs at the same time. His sorrowful songs can just make you lay in your bed and cry. Trent Reznor is a great songwriter and great musician. |

| Deftones – Change (In the House of Flies) Lyrics
| 21 years ago

I find it to be about a woman, or a man from a woman's point of view. But since I'm a man, I'll relate it to my point of view, and my experience. This man fell hard in love with a woman. They were together for a long time, and he thought he knew her, inside and out. However, even though he loved her for who she was, and vice versa, she one day just merely "changed." He is dealing with the fact that she has changed, but just cant seem to get over it. He feels like he can't go on without her. He is at home and destroying himself, and he knows that she is just out enjoying herself, feeling alive. He is contemplating suicide, but he thinks about the possible consequences (I look at the cross, then I look away). He would rather just be killed by her, because he feels like she more or less has anyway. But he knows that that is not going to happen, so he just keeps dealing with it.
I'm sure it's not that literal, but I guess it's what the song means to us, right? Great song. |

| Pearl Jam – Black Lyrics

Yeah, I would say this is my favorite Pearl Jam song and it always has been. I remember listening to it before and saying to myself, "God, I hope this never happens to me," and I never thought it would. But just here recently it has and its very hard to deal with. It's like all of a sudden, her feelings for me just changed, after four years of nothing but total love. But I guess perfect relationships go bad. It happens to a lot of people. Anyway, great song. The lyrics are well crafted and provides an image of familiarity. Something we can all relate to. |
