Vanishing Lyrics
Disappear
Disappear
Higher
Higher
Into the air
Slowly disappear
No, no longer here
Disappear
Disappear
Thinner, thinner
Into the air
Never really here
Wasn't ever
Like a thought
Brushing up against a sigh
Floating away
Floating away
Vanishing like a cyan sunday
Disappear
Disappear
Vanish, vanish into the air
Slowly disappear
Never really here
Floating away
Floating away
Disappear
Higher
Higher
Into the air
Slowly disappear
No, no longer here
Disappear
Thinner, thinner
Into the air
Wasn't ever
Brushing up against a sigh
Floating away
Disappear
Disappear
Vanish, vanish into the air
Slowly disappear
Never really here
Floating away

are you kidding jimmy? Do all songs need to have a page full of lyrics or be hard e'nuf to knock some shit into your pants to be good? This is one of my favorite songs on the cd. Everytime I hear it I get chills. It's just an all around amazing song. I get so many different things out of this song I'm not even going to post any. CRAZY AWESOME SONG!!!

To me, this song is about losing yourself. It's about realizing that you've become cold, distant, empty, and numb- the realization that you've been fading for a while, but only just noticing it. A subtle, sick emptiness eating away at you. It's about being unable to stop yourself from fading. But then again, that's just me. Beautiful song, one of thier best, in my opinion.
this song fucking rocks.. i get chills when i hear it. the first time i ever heard it, i imagined a little kid walking in a field, and he has a red balloon on a string with him, and he accidentally lets go. (and if thats ever happened to you before, its like you cant break eye contact with it until its no longer visible.. its just cool to watch it float higher and higher and it makes you wonder how far it can go....) well yeah i picture that. eh, might sound wierd...oh well shrugs
Umm... am I the only one who thinks it's about drugs? Smoke. Like, once it's gone, there's no evidence. You burn the evidence. And when you're, like, outside, it just lifts up and becomes the air. It can't be traced. The government can't run programs and tracers and blah-blah-blah. It's true freedom. It's the heart of freedom. Once the smoke's gone, it's just... gone.
thats also the brilliant thing about maynard when u hear his music it paints an image in ur head. hes a true poet and artist
Keenan has said the album is about addiction, maybe not all necessarily about drug addiction but this song definitely. Anyone who ever smoked opium would see this connection. The color of the smoke rising and disappears. The languid mood and tone of the song wafts like a drug induced eyes-open dream.
This song is obvious dealing with the insights, and vibrating on a higher leve
My interpretation of this song is the satisfaction of the drug addiction vanishing.

Heh, I wouldn't say 'obviously,' but perhaps that's what it is..... I know I have no frickin clue.
I think this song is more of a enlightenment, feeling the world is not as real as we make out, the feeling of something better. possible even someone commiting suicide and feeling the release of pain.
this is the first song they played in concert...maynard was in some orange ball or some shit...it was fuckin awesome...i never liked this song until i heard it live
