Ben Howard – Black Flies Lyrics | 11 years ago |
black flies on the windowsill I imagined flies being trapped in a home and then dying as they try to exit through the window, but the glass holds them back. These flies are Ben and his friend. No man is an island maybe you were the ocean and I was just a stone - He doesn't want to be alone but he feels pressure and discomfort from the relationship |
New Order – Someone Like You Lyrics | 12 years ago |
It's about meeting someone for the first time and falling deeply in this true love with them .. not sure how but you're sure this person can heal all wounds caused by past relationships ... you've met the one.. and it's painful almost because they are so graceful .. you're scared to let go of your old ideas of love for this new order but you MUST to feel it fully |
Pennywise – Bro Hymn (Tribute) Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Clutch – Basket Of Eggs Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I like the part "I can tell you've been drinking by the scent of your breath. Another little sip, a bit deeper in debt. You can rest your head in your wrinkled hands. But when you awake, you're in another land." You think you're gaining when you drink because it's taking you out of your misery. But the truth is alcohol is a temporary solution to the complicated problems you're afraid to face in your life. You're just stuffing your feelings down further the more you drink; your emotional debt is growing. I also love the part about waking up in another land. When you drink you feel wonderful until you pass out because you've managed to escape yourself for that moment. Then the next morning you're in another land, reality land. |
Jesu – Sun Day Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Mission of Burma – That's When I Reach For My Revolver Lyrics | 12 years ago |
No I change my mind it's about the fear of growing up and realize you're not free to be who you want to ... not that easy or 'comfortable' to grow up and be who you want to be |
Mission of Burma – That's When I Reach For My Revolver Lyrics | 12 years ago |
the fear of living a life that is void of meaning |

Dinosaur Jr. – Over It Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think it's about being stuck in this life that is filled with 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' situations. You can't escape it, and he's saying he's 'over it,' in the sense that he now understands life is about ups and downs, getting lost, falling down and starting again. It's about acceptance and riding out life for what it's worth. |
Dinosaur Jr. – See You Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I really, really love this song |
Nick Drake – Fruit Tree Lyrics | 12 years ago |
For me this song is about how fame is not easy to come by if one's journey to be known ... fame happens on its own accord...usually long after you have died, or left the fantasies behind... The fruit tree is only appreciated by human beings when it's ready to harvest and its stalk is in the ground.. it has to stay in one place and grow, being happy and strong in itself, not worried about if others admire it... but when people have plucked its fruit and see it has now withered and gone, they will appreciate it for what it was and the fruit that it did give to nourish the world... I think this is my favourite nick drake song... his voice is so beautiful. I also love the guitar playing. This song as a bit of a dark gloomy feel to it that I love. |
The Mountain Goats – Beautiful Gas Mask Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think this song is about how if there is a God, when he comes there will be no time to save yourself from what he has in store for his people. Might be good, might be bad, might be life, might be death...! And we'll all lose one another in the process, even though we're all in the same boat right now .. |
Simon and Garfunkel – A Most Peculiar Man Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I have social anxiety disorder. A lot of my own behaviours are exactly the same as this peculiar man's. Nothing is different between us, apart from me putting on the gas in my own room. The line that really got me was about how the man "lived in house, within a room, within himself..." That is exactly how I am now, in my life. I am a student and I go to campus each day where I'm surrounded by hundreds of people, I live with roommates and I work a part time job, but I talk to no one. No one relies on me because I rely on no one for anything. Not for love, not for a conversation, or even a friendly nod. The friends I have I seldom speak to, and if I do, it's about nothing important to either of us. I'm a peculiar woman. |

The Thermals – How We Know Lyrics | 17 years ago |
you spoon water like love and I will take it if you can take it this is how we know this is how we go this is how we know I don't know what to say when you're so far from me I can barely make you I count two two three breathe two three you spoon water like love and I will take it if you can take it you spin circle in verse and I will take it if you can take it this is how we go ... ... soft and slowly, don't you know me know I count two, I count for you given the thought I would have you again I count two two three, breathe two three you walk alone, you talk in code it's a light I can't decipher but eyes shut is somehow enough under trick lighting under trick eyelids given the thought I would have you again I count two two three breathe two three you spoon water like love and I will take it if you can take it this is how we know this is how we go this is how we know |
