| lol...Yeah....that's hysterical...he has a fabulous sense of humor...^_^ | |
| Sevendust – Too Close To Hate Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Um....this *IS* a song from a soundtrack....it's from the movie 'Masterminds'....or at least,it's on the soundtrack. Not that it necessarily wasn't around before then,I just wanted to point out that not all 'sountrack' songs are bad.... | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Ugly Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| That's what I've heard too, although I've also heard that he is not currently depressed...but of course,as someone who has depression,I can tell you that you aren't always feeling down, and even when you do,you don't let others know...^_^;; Like right now.... | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Jellybelly Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Perhaps, but I was simply talking about the overall general feeling...Of course, you can be completely in love and still want to die, trust me. | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Hello Kitty Kat Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I think that it's about what others have said, and that the obsession is so much, in fact, that he intends to kill himself, hence the lines "slit my wrists and die a whore" and "I'll be with you but not for long"...and that the "who's sorry now" is basically his last stab at the girl, saying that if he kills himself because of her, she'll be the one to blame, left with the guilt and sorrow of what she drove him to...:shrugs: That was my interpretation. | |
| Hole – Petals Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Wasn't this one of the ones that was co-written by Billy Corgan? Awesome song...just...I always loved it...:shrugs: Dunno why, really... | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Daydream Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Actually, according to sources, this part- "I'm going crazy I'm going crazy I don't want feelings Your feelings I have gone crazy Motherfuckin' crazy I have gone" Isn't part of Daydream at all, which makes sense when you notice the space between the two. It's actually a super-short bonus track entitled, fairly obviously, "I'm Going Crazy" The whole thing is still awesome, just thought I'd note that particular bit.^_^ |

| The Smashing Pumpkins – Crush Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| It's interesting, because the title is 'crush' which generally implies a love that isn't true, and is based more on lust than anything...it is a gorgeous song...but I wonder about the depth of the love and just how ironic/sarcastic this was actually meant to be, considering the title. | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Sun Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Amazing song...seems to be about being ...well...lost.Inside. I believe it morphed from Billy's song 'Death of a Mind' when he was in The Marked...not positive, but I'm fairly sure. Anyways, gorgeous song...really gives that sense of being clouded in fog and trying to find a way out, but being unable to...stumbling blindly in the darkness and being so very numb. Gorgeous. | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Pissant Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I love the lines- "Talk revolution As if it matters now I don't care anyway just give me a what I want" And- "Fill me with your little whispers Store your little nightmares Of a generation said to burn" I don't know why, they just speak of sorrow and complete disgust with the world and the people that are supposed to be your contemporaries...That people will talk and talk and never really change anything at all, and still be just as horrible as before, just as cruel and unkind...And so you become cruel and unkind and full of apathy, because that's all there is left for you...AWESOME song...I can identify easily with it, unfortunately... |
|
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Siva Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Definitely about seriously hurting inside- "Way down deep within my heart Lies a soul that's torn apart " And- "All this pain smothers me Like a bomb that you can't see" Really a gorgeous song...I can relate so easily to that feeling of trying to express just how painful it is inside, and being really not able to clearly...just lovely. |

| The Smashing Pumpkins – Geek U.S.A. Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Well..Billy did say that the reason they had clowns behind him for that video was because the song was about "geeks"...I always saw it as a bit about life from the perspective of the "geek" "loner" "loser" "freak" or simply "wierdo" in society, someone who is seen and percieved a certain way...He says, "I never liked me anyway" and that he is "alone and unhappy" ((which could go along with the American way of life and how we view those and label those who are unhappy or simply different)) ...also, when he says this line: "Words can't define what I feel inside Who needs them? " That makes me think of the way most people, like myself, who have been labeled in such a way feel, as if nothing they say can truly express the hurt or the frustration going on within them. And the next part: "Caught with this virus of my mind I give in to my disease, of my needs To my disease, of my needs " Makes me think of some form of self-mutilation...because, like a virus or a disease, the urge to hurt yourself to 'make it all go away' is a strong one, like an addiction, and so very many of Billy's lyrics reflect that urge, anyway. I don't know, that's just how it struck me...maybe a bit more of the perspective of a negatively labeled person in american society than simply american society all on its own...since he DID say it was a song about geeks.lol...^_^ Anyways, FABULOUS song, the live version is gorgeous... |

| The Smashing Pumpkins – Laugh Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I don't know why, but I find myself attracted to the line : "You will grow to love me Even if it kills me" As if he's saying he is so obsessively in love with the other person, that if he cannot get them to love him, even with the most dangerous, out there ways of trying, he will simply kill himself....great song. |
|
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Jellybelly Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| It really reminds me of the mood in the song 'Ugly'...a very similar statement of self-hatred, probably self-injury, suicidal thinking ("living makes me sick...so sick I wish I'd die")...very much on the major depression end of the scale.Gorgeous, though, definitely a song I can relate to, unfortunately. | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Bleed Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| It seems the references to blood( "you can watch me bleed" ) would perhaps imply cutting or something similar, and I wonder if the phrase "one and two make three" is something about perhaps the person he loves either being in a relationship with someone else, or cheating on him(if they were involved)with someone else, and he's asking her to tell him and therefore cut him, and his love, down from the strings that keep him tied to her...At least, that's what it makes me think of... | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Falling Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Beautiful song...I think this is about someone who left him behind, and he is thinking about the person: "I have no other life And I gave fast into you Wonder where you are now And why don't you care And I always think of All the things that you've seen now " And then, he is wondering if that person still cares enough to help if they passed him on the street and he needed their help, or if they've completely forgotten and really, honestly could care less....a very poignant song, expressive of emotion... |
|
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Innosense Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I've always thought this song was gorgeous and a little sad...He's lost his innosence,as he sees it, and this song has always seemed to be about how much innosence can mean to you before it "lets you go", and that in the adult world it "holds you down." However, after such a precious thing is lost, there is little to do but remember how wonderful the days were when you were innocent and naive...ah,the days of childish youth. | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Ugly Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Yes,indeed...I played this as my class experience song for my report on Major Depression in Abnormal Psych, and I depressed everyone so much the teacher had to play a video about Mania to cheer everyone up...of course,I'd just told my life story as my report,to back it up with...but still...I love this song, it's incredibly powerful and speaks volumes about Billy's mindset at the time. | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Razor Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Having been a cutter, I would say that's absolutely correct-this song is about the cutting form of self-mutilation...this is a common theme in many of the Smashing Pumpkins songs, however...Billy Corgan constantly speaks of 'bleeding'... | |
