I have read that this song refers to fish's relationship with his much loved girlfriend kay though it was written much before kayleigh but then I don't know how long they were together.....

say_anything, frances' middle name is bean because kurt thought she looked like a kidney bean in the scan pictures. I believe the frances is after frances mkcee rather than frances farmer.
Frances Farmer was an actress kurt liked, who basically suffered horribily for being true to herself. I think the song relates to the fact that kurt and courtney felt the same.

I think the song says how kurts feels
and of the problems he felt.
'find my nest of salt' - imagine a nest of
salt and howpainfull it'd be to
lay in with so many wounds. kurt was
refering to emotional wounds.
he's apologising for all he thought he wasn't,
if only he'd knew what he meant to people. in a way I think he did and found it hard to deal with or unbelievable. |
