I think it was Marky that said it was Dee Dee who wrote it, and Johnny Thunders was just in the room at the time. The Ramones played it, didn't like it and gave it to Johnny. When Phil Spector got with them for End of the Century, it made sense to record it again, and it turned out great. |

There's a funny story about this song. When Dee Dee left the band, he went on to start a (godawful) rap career. Needless to say, it didn't last very long, and by one album, he started writing for the Ramones, again. The Ramones suggested they covered The Crusher, as it was their favourite song on the album. They changed the lyrics a little and made it more guitar-heavy. Dee Dee liked the cover so much, he played it like the Ramones version on his Solo punk album, Hop Around. |

This is a very much overlooked Ramones song, and probably their best heartbreak song, if you ask me. The slide guitar is very George Harrison-esque, and the whole thing sounds beautiful. It's a huge surprise to find this on Road to Ruin. |
