Danny Says Lyrics
Danny says we gotta go
Gotta go to Idaho
But we can't go surfin' 'cause it's 20 below
Sound checks at 5:02
Record stores and interviews
Oh, but I can't wait to be with you tomorrow
Baby
Oho-ho-ho, we got nowhere to go
And it may sound funny, but it's true
Hangin' out in 100 B
Watching Get Smart on TV
Thinkin' about
You and me and you and me
Hangin' out in L.A.
And there's nowhere to go
It ain't Christmas if there ain't no snow
Listening to Sheena on the radio oh-ho oh-ho
Gotta go to Idaho
But we can't go surfin' 'cause it's 20 below
Record stores and interviews
Oh, but I can't wait to be with you tomorrow
And it may sound funny, but it's true
Hangin' out in 100 B
Watching Get Smart on TV
Thinkin' about
You and me and you and me
And there's nowhere to go
It ain't Christmas if there ain't no snow
Listening to Sheena on the radio oh-ho oh-ho

one of my most favorite ramones songs of all time. it's kind of sad because it represents some of the downsides the band had to endure from touring.
I think this lyric is incorrect: Hangin' out in a hundred Be watching 'Get Smart' on TV
The correct lyrics are: Hangin' out in 100B Watching 'Get Smart' on TV
100B is probably the address of a record studio or someone's office. The song is about the obligations of being a rockstar and missing out on fun (surfing), being gone for holidays, and not getting to spend time with a girlfriend.
The "Danny" mentioned in the song is Daniel Fields, the Ramones' manager on the End of the Century record. The whole song is about trying to keep a relationship going while on tour.
i couldn't agree more
Phil Spectre did a great job on this album. The Ramones demo version is really cool and stripped down.
this is my favorite ramones song. =)
It occurred to me (right after I hit "submit, of course!) that the contradiction is a perfect representation of the politically opposite views of Johnny & Joey.
think thats probably stretching it a bit
think thats probably stretching it a bit
I like the contradictions in the song:
"But we can't go surfin' 'cause it's 20 below"
i.e. the cold weather sucks
"It ain't Christmas if there ain't no snow"
i.e. I love a white Christmas
The snow could also be about cocaine of course. Christmas a metaphor for a fun time in general, like it's no fun without coke.
