Bonnie 'Prince' Billy – Death To Everyone Lyrics 21 years ago
this song is a tough read, as I can see it as anything from post-apocalypse (hosing!) to anyday life. I have to say the lines
every terrible thing / is a relief
even months on end / buried in grief
are easy, light times / which have to end
with the coming / of your death friend
always make me chuckle.

The Lucksmiths – Broken Bones Lyrics 21 years ago
Sometimes the Lucksmiths can seem too clever for their own good, but rarely are they "punny" for mere rhyming cleverness. "Since I fell from my sweetheart's clutches..." how wonderful is that?
There doesn't seem to be too much Lucksmiths chatter, but I wonder, this being an Aussie band ... I wonder about the weather references in this song. It's not Xmas anywhere in "springtime," and because it's not cold and dark (when the streetlights shine...) at Christmas in Australia. Any insight?

Pixies – Bird Dream Of The Olympus Mons Lyrics 21 years ago
Seems to me this song could have parallels to 'Motorway to Roswell' ("his tiny ship..."), though not necessarily involving the same character. I imagine a human-piloted spacecraft experiencing engine failure ("speed leaving without warning..."); the pilot crashes, stays the night, and watches the Martian sunrise as his oxygen runs out. He contemplates his life ... "once I had a good fly..."

Pixies – The Navajo Know Lyrics 21 years ago
In NYC and other places, many Mohawks (nicknamed "Skywalkers") found work in the high-rise construction business... I've heard they were naturals at walking across narrow beams, placing one foot directly in front of the other.
