has anyone touched on the importance of the name "Magdalena" in this song title? Magdalena was the holy whore, she was a whore, and when she tried to enter a church she was blocked by an unknown force, so she repented and so became a saint. A Perfect Circle have a similar story in their leid "Magdalena" of the Mer De Noms album. I believe this album is a collection of perspectives on religion. Terms like "Vicarious Atonement" and "Meccamputecture" have significance here. Vicarious Atonement meaning atoning yourself, through the experience of someone else, or in other words, claiming faith. I find it interesting in TMVs use of "Meccamputecture" as in "Mecca", the place of worship for Muslims, and "Amputechture". "Tetragrammaton" is another interesting one, if you would grace yourselves to rent the movie "Equilibrium". A movie about a world with no emotion, hence no religion, art, and so on. The elite force that enforce this law of no emotion/religion are named the Tetragrammaton.

This is a well written song by Outkast, im a rock fan and have been all my life but this song stood out.
Knowing Craig he was probably stoned and started singing the song, it is a catchy tune after all. But what they did to it was, in my mind, a masterpiece. Chord progression, melody carried by keyboards and a three part vocal line, with exceptional harmonies and counter -melodies. You need to be musically trained to understand, its pure simplicity.
Just wanted to post that cuz people fighting over who did the better version is stupid, they're two completely different songs, musically, just the same lyrically. |

i went to school with craigs little sister, and before i was at the school, he was. vision valley is the place where we had our band camp... my best mate and i saw the new album title and knew exactly where craig got it from. i'd say, at a glance, it could be about his time there, but im certain that the phrase "Through the vision valley waitin to be found" means that from the time he was about 9 or 10 (fifth or sixth grade, the years you're allowed to go) he knew he wanted to be in the music world and that he would make it.

this songs interests me. i sit back and look at the composition, and im the kind of person that is very fussy about that sort of stuff, and when i saw that this song went for 15 minutes i thought "this had better be good" but when i sat down to listen to it, even if the composition isnt the most remarkable thing they've come up with, the song as a whole is just amazing. ive been listening to it for a week now, its mad.

i can sometimes relate to these lyrics, not that i dont love my parents, and i hope they dot see me rocking to it, cuz of the lyrics, but anyway i think this is a complete run down of all the basic thoughts that run through a teenagers head during puberty. its great. the solo is good too, but when i was listening to it for the first time it was a bit predictable, and it took me a while to appreciate the composition, but i love it now, always gets me headbangin, lol |
