The Goo Goo Dolls – Something for the Rest of Us Lyrics | 13 years ago |
The album's out. The lyrics are in the liner notes. Feel free to fix them. |
The Kinks – Catch Me Now I'm Falling Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Awesome song. Goo Goo Dolls just did a great cover of it. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Something for the Rest of Us Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Hey, don't post lyrics if you don't know the right ones. |
The Wallflowers – Health And Happiness Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Zemi's got it right I think. Begrudgingly accepting the fact that the one you love/loved has found someone else. You want the best for them, want them to be happy, but you'd rather have them yourself. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Stand Alone Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Possibly one of the most brilliant Goo Goo Dolls songs ever. Really! It's about depression, about being alone, and the lyrics are pretty straightforward about it. Being by yourself sucks, and sometimes it feels like you've got nowhere to go. The most frustrating thing is trying to understand it all. But the brilliance in the song is the melody. The dynamic of the verses compared to the chorus really conveys the mix of discontent and anger that comes from the lyrics. The verses are very easy-going, as if the feelings being shared were irrelevant to everyone else. Once the chorus comes, the feelings turn to anger. Amazing song. Should've been on Volume 2, and it needs to see the light of day at some point, because it's an absolute shame no one knows it. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Amigone Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's not exactly stupid. It's named for the Amigone family that owns them. I find it ironic. BTW, great song. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Better Days Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It wasn't about Katrina. It was written and released months before it ever happened. It wasn't about Katrina. It was written and released months before it ever happened. It wasn't about Katrina. It was written and released months before it ever happened. It wasn't about Katrina. It was written and released months before it ever happened. It wasn't about Katrina. It was written and released months before it ever happened. It wasn't about Katrina. It was written and released months before it ever happened. It wasn't about Katrina. It was written and released months before it ever happened. Got it everyone? |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Eyes Wide Open Lyrics | 17 years ago |
As pathetic as it is, this song is the story of my life. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Naked Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The person above me nailed it. Probably the best song the Goo Goo Dolls have ever done. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – There You Are Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I feel this song goes along with "Two Days In February". Basically this is how he's feeling after a breakup, before he eventually gets over it in "2DiF". He can't stop thinking about her, and just wants to know where things went wrong. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Girl Right Next To Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Holy crap... the guitar solo is flat out sick. Don't quite understand the lyrics, though. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Fallin' Down Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think it's about this guy who likes this girl, who really wants to be with her, but isn't sure if it's gonna work out. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Flat Top Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I don't understand how this song isn't more popular. Simply brilliant. I wish they'd try to rerelease it. I feel like it strikes a chord with today's world. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Listen Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think it could be somewhat about Robby being bothered by his position in the band. He's always been such a key member vocally, and as the band as progressed, his role has been diminished. He doesn't really sing backup on any of John's songs anymore. He only had 2 of 11 songs on the last album. No one really wants to hear what he has to say (I do, but not the majority of people going to shows). That's just what I get out of it. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Better Days Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It wasn't about Katrina. It was written and released months before it ever happened. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Full Forever Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I get a totally different perspective here. I think it's about being alone. Feeling cast aside by another (Have you left home in spite/Knowing I'm alone tonight), and just hating every day (Wednesday's bad but Friday ain't much better). Just being angry about why you're alone. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Without You Here Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Paraphrasing John, it's about having strong feelings for someone who's close to you, but not having the relationship you want. You want to be closer to them, and just want them to feel the same way and accept you (And I would give you everything/Just to feel your open arms), but don't want to alienate this person at the same time. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – We'll Be Here (When You're Gone) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It's about Buffalo, and if you're from Buffalo, it's obvious. John said during the Darien Lake concert on July 22nd that it was about Buffalo, and "it is our song and no one else's". |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Long Way Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
For a long time I didn't think this song was that great, but for some reason now more than ever I think it's one of their best. The remix version from the Twister soundtrack is even better musically. Great guitar work, great lyrics. John always sings his songs with passion, and this one so much it almost bleeds. |
Treble Charger – Over My Head Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Amazing song. Possibly the best on "Detox". So many days have been described by these words for me. |
Treble Charger – Drive Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Awesome song. Great instrumental. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Fallin' Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |
These lyrics are wrong... just like the rest... |
The Goo Goo Dolls – All Eyes On Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The instrumental at the end is so fucking awesome. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Cuz You're Gone Lyrics | 19 years ago |
A Thousand Words lyrics: a thousand words, but none were spoken guess there's nothing left to say another word just got broken guess things just turn out that way i want you to love me i want you to know i'm just like you just like you a thousand words are spoken another dream, another day i'm just like you, just like you i want you to love me i want you to know i'm just like you a thousand words just like you a thousand words just like you... |
The Goo Goo Dolls – So Far Away Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Coming from the common thread in John's songs about not living up to other's expectations (And I never felt that way/I ain't the one and you know I ain't from such a place), I think it's about a rocky relationship that's major problem is the other person (You're tearing it down, ya you're bringing it down/and it's all on you) |
Gob – Beauville Lyrics | 19 years ago |
To me it's about getting out of a relationship with a girl who had too many problems for it to be worthwhile anymore. |
Gob – Sick With You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think it's about liking a girl more than she probably likes you, and not wanting to screw it up by going too far and debating whether or not all this torture of being around her is worth it anyways. |
Gob – Ming Tran Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It's all about revenge. Getting back at a person who has wronged you by sending your friends to kick their ass. Awesome song. |
Gob – Everybody's Getting Hooked Up Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Basically the feelings one might have the morning after a wild night a little too close to the edge for one's liking. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Two Days In February Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The song is about a two day relationship John had with a girl from California. John lived in Buffalo, she lived out west, it wasn't gonna work. The girl actually had a photo credit and was thanked in the liner notes of "Hold Me Up". |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Domino Lyrics | 19 years ago |
THE LYRICS ARE WRONG! from googoodolls.com: If you never had it then You don't know how bad it is Having nothing, liking it well Neighbors talked and, I can tell but Here comes the day I sit and wait Oh it's always something The bills keep coming the car ain't running Now I'm thumbing home again Another day, oh, the mailman's on his way Just sit and wait Always pondering my fate too late Another day goes I borrowed from you yesterday Lent a bunch to you last may No one minds I can tell Seems I've picked the wrong seashell but Here comes the day, I sit and wait Oh it's always something The bills keep coming, the car ain't running Now I'm coming home again Another day, the mailman's on his way Just sit and wait Always pondering my fate too late Another day goes Dominoes are falling still As I know they always will Dominoes a test of will Dominoes |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Ain't That Unusual Lyrics | 19 years ago |
First off, my favorite song of all time. I've always interpreted it like this: "A Boy Named Goo" was possibly the last record the Goos were ever going to make. John was on the verge of quitting the band. Things didn't look to good. This is a very sarcastic song to me. It's basically about the band not 'making it', and John's feeling about possibly not making music anymore (There's something that I wish I'd said/but I don't think it'd rhyme) and really their impending failure. Kind of a 'oh well, I don't care' kind of song. |
