Listen Lyrics
Why are you so green
How can you say that to me?
When did you fall from grace?
You've got a dirty face
And it's killin' me
Why don't you listen?
Why don't you listen to me?
I'm drownin' but I never felt so free
Can you follow me?
Will you justify me please?
Said you're wrong
Said you're gone
I'll guess I'll wait another night
For what you're gonna say
Back to me
Why don't you listen?
Why don't you listen to me?
I'm drownin' but I never felt so free
And I try
But I never try too long
When you're gone
Why don't you listen?
Why don't you listen to me?
I'm drownin' but I never felt so free
Why don't you listen / hear what you're missin'
How can you say that to me?
When did you fall from grace?
You've got a dirty face
And it's killin' me
Why don't you listen to me?
I'm drownin' but I never felt so free
Will you justify me please?
Said you're wrong
Said you're gone
I'll guess I'll wait another night
For what you're gonna say
Back to me
Why don't you listen to me?
I'm drownin' but I never felt so free
But I never try too long
When you're gone
Why don't you listen to me?
I'm drownin' but I never felt so free

hmm..robby's songs are always harder to interpret than john's..but in reality, they're much more literal and straightforward than john's
i guess he's just asking this person why don't they listen and take advice from him
Its about a disagreement in relationships, and robbies saying one thing, but shes not hearing it, as for "drowning and never felt so free", he's going through hell, and isn't sure if he'll make it, but at the same time hes kidna glad to be free from the onstraints of the relationship.
This song is my favorite song that Robby sings!
I think it could be somewhat about Robby being bothered by his position in the band. He's always been such a key member vocally, and as the band as progressed, his role has been diminished. He doesn't really sing backup on any of John's songs anymore. He only had 2 of 11 songs on the last album. No one really wants to hear what he has to say (I do, but not the majority of people going to shows).
That's just what I get out of it.
