I adore this song. So simple but the beautiful harmonies just take it to some other level. I think it's about the aftermath of a relationship that led to a brief intimacy, which ended the relationship as it used to be... She recalls it and still feels the need for him, and the regret after him. He's gone beyond that, left the 'place' she's lingering in where she's still struggling to move on. That's my understanding anyway. Regardless, it's one of the best songs on the album. |

Jimmy Shaker kidnapped their son, and when they got him back, threatened them with "Jimmy Shaker Day" - when he'd finally get the son for good. I don't know if this is the Jimmy Shaker (Day) in the song, but it could be a good fit... Anyone? |

Ok, so this song is about a newborn, his nephew, daughter, whatever. I love it. LOVE it. When I first heard it I thought it was about 'his' loved one having tried to kill herself, esp. when I heard the lines about blood on her wrist, and he rushes her to hospital, but they save her. She'll be alright. This night is like the 1st night of the rest of her life... her new life. That the hope in a plastic box is the machine they shock her with as they try to revive her. The Christmas lights line I took as his sentiment - "how did it get to this?" Being a pessimist means I'd still rather think of it meaning what I originally thought rather than about some poxy baby!! |

I love this song, and it really bugs me that people I try to get interested in Tori get to "the power of orange knickers" but can't get beyond it. Anyway... "those girls that smile kindly, then rip your life to pieces", never were truer words said. Also... "A matter of complication, when you become a twist, for their latest drink, as they're transitioning", to me this says date-rape - drink-spiking of the drink of the moment, of the young (teens, 20s) - "as they're transitioning". Like a form of sabotage, or terrorism as she'd say. Anyone? |

This is THE most beautiful song off the incredible Beekeeper album. LOVE Tori, though this reminds me horribly of Mariah Carey (ick!) butterfly song. Damnit! She's the dominator, he floats off when he wants too, but she's not going to force the one she loves. Suggestions for other "beautiful" songs? I recommend Pagan Poetry by Bjork, Like Paper Cuts by Mew + She by Louie Says. |

I love this song from Stigmata OST. Doesn't is seem about some glorious woman that everyone wants? She's everything to everyone, pure desire, but she's strangely poisonous, no good for him. She screws him up, but he still wants her. Perhaps? |

Just want to say the whole FUTURES album is SUPREME!! I think this song is about some guy wants abetter future for himself and his "darling", wants to invest their assets (stocks or whatever) "trade up for the for the fast ride" building something worthy for them. It's an optimistic song, he's convinced he can get them better. |
