Sure there is . . needles, seem a little sick, etc . . a lot of other lines in the song suggest drug addiction and how it steals away your life. I also work with heroin addicts all day, soo it's not surprising that that's what I came up with. |

When I'm feeling sad and I listen to this song, I always picture my friend who passed away singing this to me, because I would like to believe that he is "wishing for [me] to find [my] way" and that he doesn't want me to be depressed. I felt so much better today when this song came on in the car after I received some news that was upsetting to me. thank you O:) |

"I'm a fountain of blood in the shape of a girl." Anyone who's been in the type of relationship this song seems to describe knows what an awful feeling that is. (And those are the perfect lyrics to describe it, too.) You love him, you know he doesn't love you back, but you don't want to let him go, so you stick around, but meanwhile, you're nothing to him except "a fountain of blood."
And my other favorite lyric: "I'm a tree that grows hearts, one for each that you take"-- can't you just feel the pain in those words?
Ironically, I heard this song the last time I ever saw him.
Also, Emcee Sol, thanks for translating that Icelandic part, it's really quite beautiful (the lyrics as well as the music, of course). |

I don't really think she sounds like Kelly; I actually think she has quite a distinctive voice. I'm surprised that so many people are disappointed with this song, although I understand the point, that it's pretty straightforward and all. But my interpretation is that she just wanted to say exactly what she was thinking without beating around the bush or being *cryptic* with the lyrics. I feel *proud* of her for that, haha. She seems like a strong woman and if she's really not, then she covers that up pretty well with her strong voice. Sing it, girl!!! :) |

This song should be the anthem of my last relationship. In particular, it reminds me of the night that we went to the club with his friends . . . that night, I tried to show him how much I cared about him, "without having to say I love you." Too bad I knew all along "that it wouldn't last!" |

The string arrangement, especially at that part, is absolutely perfect for this song. I'm not sure what the song REALLY means, but I associate this song with my new love interest and how shy he is and how much I wish he would finally just open up to me! So it's a very positive association for me :) |

Strokesman, I completely agree with your interpretation. The first time I heard this song, I was thinking to myself, "this must be about those idiots that think that they can get over past heartbreaks and trust issues the first time they see someone. how naive." I just got my heart broken a few months ago and as everyone does, thought that I would never get over it. Then, literally, the next day, I saw HIM again. And suddenly everything that happened to me before didn't matter anymore. I listened to this song on repeat for about a day after that. Haha, funny how things turn out, isn't it? "let the rain fall, I don't care . . ." O:-) |

What a beautiful song. This song makes me feel empowered. I just got my heartbroken suddenly after 3 years with the guy that I thought was the love of my life . . . These lyrics are especially powerful to me: "This scar is a fleck on my porcelain skin, You tried to reach deep but you never got in" and "Nothing but time and a face that you'll lose

Actually, I've only heard it as a duet. I absolutely love it. I had no idea it was even Matt, my friend put it on a mix CD for me. Does anyone know who it is that he's singing with in the duet? Anyways, this song reminds me of almost breaking up with my boyfriend/ soulmate when he decided to move away. It fit the mood and the situation perfectly and really got me through it. It's amazing how music can do that for you. Thank God we're still together. |

Excellent interpretation, TxBxS! I really like that and I think you're absolutely right. However, the music also gives me the feeling I get when something is coming to an end and the hope for the next new thing that is beginning. In particular, it reminds me of the end of last year (my sophomore year in college) when my best friend left but my other friends promised to be there for me this year when she was gone. Such a beautiful song, it will always take me back to that time. |

This song played in Garden State during the scene where he was getting high with all his friends and they were playing spin the bottle. I'm crazy about this song! I think it describes the kind of feeling that I get when something weird is happening to me and I'm just looking all around me, seeing other people's reactions and taking everything in. The music has such a great sound for what it means. I love it! |
