hmm, well my interperpretation of this song might add a different view seeing as i live within a mile or two from chris hannah (singer/guitarist) in winnipeg, and the fact that in this area of winnipeg there is a severe problem with youth violence, primarily between 2 rival gangs known as the indian posse, and deuce, this would make sense for this song ' prepubes swarm the hill like flies'.... jackknives in socks... and all that jazz... 'the drinking dont intercept this north end horde' the north end of winnipeg is where both of these gangs are based, and that, being the poorest area of town is also subject to a lot of street people abusing substances... 'fighting a war that i cant win' well now... gang violence doesnt really benefit anyone now does it.... and theres really no winner, seeing as they all just retaliate in an escalation of revenge... also in the poorer areas of town primarily inhabited by aboriginals in our case, despair anger and boredeom really take their toll on the youth...
