I think the song is about American Culture or what used to be American culture. In the verses he describes things that Americans hold dear, apple pie, the blue bird on the shoulder is a reference to the old disney cartoons with the cartoon blue bird singing on the shoulder. The diamond slippers are a reference to Wizard of Oz, an iconic American film. I think it's about the fantasy that people share in this country, and it is just a fake dream that we all have in a fake empire. Our empire is made up of films and things actors say or do, making it all the more fake. |

I thought the end was
"Oh let's all toast to the ones we love
Oh to old friends and to binding blood"
the next line I'm not sure of either.
This song is great, though. |

this song isn't about heroin use, this song is about becoming insane and being put in hospitals and put on medication.
"When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye"
Those lines are about the first time he noticed his mind being the way it would eventually become. |

but it's all right now, in fact, it's a gas. yeah, song goes great to the end of fear and loathing too. i was unsure of who this song was by just because it wasn't on the movie's soundtrack cd, but it's pretty obvious that it's the stones. and who gives a shit what it's about man, it's kind of a song where there doesn't really need to be a meaning. |

aleister crowley was pretty nuts, i don't remember any facts or anything from what i've read but he was known as the wickedest man in the world. i also remember that he thought he was a reincarnation of another man who died on the date of his birth or something along those lines who was a magician and shit as well. also, crowley had a girl or something that went into a trance or something and told him to go to this museum in egypt and idk something crazy happened or something. blah blah blah, etc, sick song. |

this song sounds like a short epic, like a guy's about to do something that he knows is probably gonna kill him, like a battle or some sort and he's basically saying to his loved ones that he's not coming back. |

haha yeah man, but yeah the movie was pretty good, i didn't like the way he was interpreted either. it was more of a third person view, like i guess that's how people saw him, but you could always see there was something deeper. val kilmer deserved the part tho man, he used to be in a doors cover band i heard. when he went to try out for the part he gave stone 3 doors songs and said that two were of him and one was of morrison and to try and see if he could tell which ones were him. Stone said that one definitely wasnt morrison, but then kilmer told him none of them were of morrison and it was all him so he got the part. great song though, bottom line. |

at the whiskey jim was late so ray robbie and john just played some blues sets, then the owner flipped out and told them to get jim, they found him at a hotel with just boots on or something like that and he said "10 thousand mikes" which is 10,000 micrograms of acid, a normal hit is like 400 or something. so they took him back and he was completely out of it, then he said "i want to do the end" and that's when it fully evolved. |
