Directed towards me75234....yeah, red and white being the opposite of black and blue might be true but that in no way relates to the song or how it would be her guiding light.
If we're going on the abusive relationship thing, which i do agree with, then red and white would symbolize an ambulance's lights and siren being her guiding light bringing her help. Also fits with a satellite being a 911 call.
just my 2 cents. |

i love this song, my name comes from a Bon Jovi song. i love the message of the song. i just have one comment though, does the chords of this song remind anyone else of the song that goes "all by myself...don't want to be, all by myself anymore.."? |

EkayB- It's actually, I'm so glad her mom didn't abort her, but it's even blocked on the record. Both, Em and Kim love Hailie, that's why there was a long custody battle over her, so obviously her mom wanted her. |

And to sparx- it's definitely the latter of the two. He means that since he was in that situation and felt like no one was listening, now he's in a position to call attention to it and sing for the people without voices. |

Dub-c, he was talking about the bouncer who he caught kissing his wife, kim, and that whole legal battle thing. Guerra said that Em pistol-whipped him but Em said it was his fist. |

does anyone else see the relation to 9/11? I know it wasn't written for that but someone sang it in memory today and it just fits. I never liked it before, but i love it now. |

| Bon Jovi – I Got The Girl Lyrics

First, I am a huge Bon Jovi fan. Second, I love this cd, when i heard this song I thought it was just a love song...now as I read the lyrics it becomes clear to me that it's really about his daughter, Stephanie. The lines "If I was a holy man I'd get down on my knees
So the angels that watch over her would give a break to me
Holy Mother of saint bubble gum and Sister band-aid knees
Won't you please pray for the ones like me
But the truth is someday
Somebody is gonna take her from me
But the queen of hearts will always be
A five-year-old princess to me (to me)"
--The mother of bubblegum and sister band aid knee is a kid reference, and about him on his knees begging is him begging and wanting a little girl. And i hope I don't have to explain the five-year-old princess thing, that should be obvious. It just all makes sense. |

I agree with you all. The feeling in his voice along with the lyrics implies death. It seems like they were sick for a while but in the end it beat the person, like in the line "You were always invincible in my eyes
the only thing against us now is time"

I do, I think it's great. It's honest and truthful almost to a fault. I wonder about the things said in the song too, I'm glad i'm not the only one who thinks this way. |

To Stringofpearls: Flat out you're wrong. It was written about Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper. On February 3, 1959 and 1 AM their plane crashed and it was known as the day the music died. JFK has nothing t do with it, it doesn't even make sense...why would the MUSIC die when he was assassinated? |

I have to agree with some of you, it seems as though they have lost touch with what made them unique in the first place. The brutally honest and sometimes heartwrenching lyrics, and the ska/rock beats made No Doubt famous and original. I understand their want to collaborate but this time i think something is definately missing. It's a good song, but it's as though any band could be the artist behind it. ~Beauty~ |
