I agree with Bobo.... everyone has opinions, and no one can be right or wrong. It's like poetry. Some people connect to it differently. That's one of the most wonderous things about music and poetry and any form of written art. People can look as shallow or as deep into something as they want.

Someone told me that the meaning to this song was about suicide. the bicycle show part is like... all the people on the bicycles are dead, floating around. and he's got different tactics to get the friend to not commit suicide. trying the "oh go ahead; see if I care" method, and then "I won't let you down" method. and the person dies, and Raine's sayin "why would you care about being scared? It's your dream, not theirs. you can control it." and then he looks over and sees a thief stealing cigarettes, and he's killing himself with them. and Raine's just wishing he could save everyone. I have absolutely no idea if that is right, but that's what someone once told me. |

I think this song is about a person who has screwed up a lot in his past, and everyone has turned their backs on him. He never thinks of anything but the problems he has and has had. and raine's saying "hey don't worry. you've got a friend in me" and then the second verse is like the person hates being on the outside, but he can't leave it. He's just drawn to it. Raine says to keep quiet- no one has to know everything bad from your past. then at the end the person is reflecting on his past and wondering if this new friendship could possibly last. It's fairly self-explanatory heh |

I haven't heard anything from this band, but I'm downloading this song right now. I love the lyrics!! It seems to me like the person who wrote this has a friend who kept telling him that he was doing everything wrong. but then he saw through the lies and saw how his friend thought higher of himself than the guy who wrote this, and he's kinda rising up and saying "hey wait a sec, I didn't do anything. I'm not going to take your crap silently anymore." I really like it!! |

This song is incredible. My sister isn't here with me, but I know that she's in better place, where angels' wings caress her... but I still miss her. It's written so beautifully. The lyrics are exactly how I feel. First time I heard this, I was crying and I didn't even realize it. The more I listen to it, the more I fall in love with the song. This is definitely one of my top 3 from Make Yourself. how creative to use the bongos in the beginning! It adds a lot of feeling, the way it builds up. I kinda feel how moostah feels about it. It happens to me all the time!! Your day is going fine, and then just one little thing that should barely even aggravate you just pisses you off like you can't believe!! All of a sudden, your day has gone to crap... but you refuse to scream about it. If you did, it would release allll that frustration!! But no.

denmark.... that's why I love incubus! not only is it full of kickass musicians.... but an intellectually advanced singer who writes amazing lyrics!!! hahaha and Harry, I see where you're comin from, but loosen up! He's not saying unlearn EVERYTHING!! hehe. Okay first off.... this song makes me cry. lol Or at least the feeling of gut-wrenching melancholy and indecisiveness. But this is what I get from it:
I completely agree that it signifies a relationship and everything... but I can kinda see a second meaning behind it. I'm not necesarrily saying this is what Brandon meant with all of this.. but I can kinda relate something else to it. I dunno if maybe I'm just being stupid or what, but here it is:
He's reflecting on his old lifestyle, and realizing that he hasn't made the best of it. kinda like "warning" - don't let life pass you by. But he's realizing that he has never really been himself. He's always kinda had this facade that protected him from the real world. But through the facade, he's made some bad decisions. He's always planned of getting rid of the fake him, and thought he would be strong and be himself. But the real world scares him. if he hides in bed all day, he doesn't have to face the world and the decisions he's made. he threw away his security... and wants to go back. but then, as he lays there, he thinks... I won't have to answer to anyone if I'm on my own. hence the "you're always first when no one's on your side." He can be his own person if he gets rid of the facade. He just keeps going back and forth and back and forth between being himself and a false himself. "I never thought I could want soemone so much... cause now you're not here and I'm knee deep in that old fear" - talking about how scared he is without his mask. but then finally, "the day has come, and I want off that ride!" - He's made up his mind. He knows he can face the world and its difficulties by himself and that he will be strong. I guess it's sort of a triumph over one's fear.
I dunno. You guys probably think I'm insane. but oh well. I understand what I'm saying, even if no one else does. |

Co&Ca are .......... incredible!!! Not just Claudio's vocal range, or any one member's abilities... it's more how they all fit so perfectly together!! Listening to them makes me think of this: when you're little and you're working on a jigsaw puzzle and you're trying to shove a piece in a spot that it doesn't really fit into - that reminds me of pop and some mainstream bands who play just for the fans. but when you find the piece that just clicks in automatically, without struggle - that's this stuff. It just CLICKS!! Something in your brain wakes up and says "hey wait a minute.... this isn't crap! this is awesome! I want more!!" another thing... the part in the middle about "when you're down on the floor bleeding bastard, you'll be getting home real soon" - the way it just sets in with the percussion... soo energy- and emotion- capturing. ahhh I love it!!! |

I think he's just tryin to point out that you can't really CLASSIFY emo... and therefore the title of 'emo' sucks. classifying and categorizing things sucks. that's my interpretation, and my beliefs on it. |
