In a recent Rockline Interview, Daniel said that this song was supposed to be on Diorama but they already had quite a few songs with just his vocals and piano. He said it's a very personal song because Asylum refers to his sanctuary...the safe peaceful place he reaches upon clearing his head. I think Daniel is singing about this girl that has fallen in love with the wrong guy and she has placed him on a pedastal so to speak....and when he says "I'm just the kind to bring you down", he's trying to bring this girl back down reality and show her that she doesn't need him, that she's better and stronger alone. |

This song restores my faith and makes me feel like I'm not alone. I think Raine is basically singing about he'll be there unconditionally for a close friend or girlfriend, but he's not Superman or invincible and he can only do so much, yet he's willing to do all that he can to help heal this person's pain and hopes that it's enough. |

This CD is so addictive, as are all of their other ones. I think this song is about being obligated to stay in a relationship, but hating the fact that the two people in the relationship are so dependent on each other. |
