While it could be about Billy Corgan, i have a feeling that a lot of it is directed towards Kurt. Just look at the first two lines, which mention amethyst and little fish. Kurt was born on February 20th (my birthday!). Amethyst is the birthstone for February and Kurt was also a Pisces, which if you don't know, is symbolized by two little fish. |

People have to get one thing straight. Good music is good music. If you like Britney Spears, which if you do, I'm very sorry, but still, go ahead. Who the hell am I to say "don't like her, she's pop, whatever". Fuck it, like her, see what i care. There's also a difference between "poppy" music and "pop" music. "Pop" music is usually made entirely for money, fabricated by record companies, and in turn, is usually nothing more than sugary craze-of-the-week crap. Just because it lacks substance doesn't mean it's not a catchy song cause it usually is. The thing is, "poppy" music just means that a song encompasses the catchiness of a pop songs, has a memorable hook, and people can sing along, but many poppy songs are well-written by respectable bands, and can have deep meanings and intellectual lyrics. Jimmy Eat World has incorporated a lot more "poppiness" into their new album, but this is by no means a bad thing. It just means that the songs will instantly latch into people's minds with a death grip, not letting go until the name Jimmy Eat World is etched into the minds of millions. That's a good thing. That's not selling out, that's writing well-crafted songs that people will like. That's good business. But I've rambled on enough, check out my band's lyrics. As for a burnable version, if you're going to try to get the song for free, do your own homework. Trust me, it wasn't that hard for me to find it. |

hi, im the songwriter, um waterfallrain, to just give you a little insight into the song, i wrote this about some girl who i was in love with two years, went out with for like two months, and then instead of breaking up with me, decided to just cut off all contact. Instead of just saying she just didnt like me, she left me in the dark, and avoided talking or seeing me. This, if you don't know, is a really shitty thing to do to someone, especially someone as in love with you as i was with her. The day i wrote this was when i finally decided that i wouldnt put up with all the shit she had put me through, and i wrote this in one 10 minute session. I'm totally a guy willing to love a girl, but I'll be damned if I'll waste it all again on someone who doesn't give a fuck about me. Anyway, thats it. |

Writing lyrics down by ear is a lot harder than i thought. Especially since there's no way to grip it. Get it? Anyway, these lyrics are pretty close, but I'm sure I made a couple of mistakes, so if i did, tell me and I'll change them. Hey, it's better than no lyrics at all. This is one of my favorite cursive songs, and I was sad to not see any lyrics for it, so I finally decided to do it myself. The last minute of this song is amazing, everything comes together so great. I never really got the meaning until i just wrote the lyrics, but i deduce that the brother is a bastard and raped her or molested her, something like that, and just like most people who go through traumatic experiences, she's disconnected from the rest of the world. Great song, by a great band, and i haven't heard any new news about Tim Kasher and his lung, how's he doing now? Apparently, you do care that i think otherwise about the band since it affected you enough to make a comment about it. And although i may be an airheaded imbecile, im also a nitpicker when it comes to proper English. In the situation where you said "may be", it should have been "maybe", and you spelled by in "by the way" as though you were wishing me farewell. And above is not spelled with a zero. But perhaps I'm rambling, seeing as how I'm an airheaded imbecile. I'll say it again, if you like Deadsy, good for you. If you don't, well then clearly, you're not soulpeddler. |

Hmm, im not even sure what to say about Deadsy. I like them, i really do, this 80's kind of goth rock thing with the synthesizers and all, i enjoy it. That's why i like Orgy. But if i hadnt known who was playing that song beforehand, my first thought would have went to "oh, Orgy has a new song out." I think these guys try WAY too hard to be all goth and dark and whatever. Wearing early Manson clothing and has anybody seen their website? One of the turn-ons for the lead singer, Phillips Exeter Blue I (are you kidding me?) is "the little blonde hairs on the inner thighs of blonde women that glisten in the sunlight" What the hell? And each member proceeds to profess the time of the day when their powers are heightened, and their season of paramount. Im sorry, but i dont buy it, it doesnt make them come off as dark oe whatever, it just makes them seem...dorky. Their lyrics also seem to be devised to make them sound dark and brooding, but they are so stereotypically dark and brooding that any darkness is taken away. Some of the words they use seem as if they went through a thesaurus and picked the words that either had the most letters or were the hardest to say. But before i go, i want to bring up again that, yes, i do like them, just as long as i dont have to see them, and i dont pay a lot of attention to the lyrics. Sorry for the blatant advertising, but i do it after all my comments. Bottom line: If you like Deadsy, all the power to you. Definitely a great song, as are most dashboard songs. My good friends in Marc With A C, a local band down here in Metairie, LA, do a kickass cover of this song, and they basically kickass, definitely a band thats going to make it big somehow, someway. I should put up some lyrics of theirs. Anyway, watch out for them and Dashboard kicks ass as always. Anytime someone calls it "pussy emo music" i...agree, but also totally defend it. Hell, id rather listen to awesome pussy emo music than crap...non-pussy, non-emo music. And by the way, nobody comment on the whole emo topic, i dont care if dashboard is emo or not emo, whatever, its not a big deal, im just using the term because its easily understood by a wide audience. The first Cursive song i ever heard, and it still might be my favorite. I honestly had no idea a band could be this great. Ive listened to a burned cd of Domestica and the 8 Teeth To Eat You split over and over again the past couple weeks, and each time, i look forward to listening to it. I especially think that the songs on 8 teeth are their best yet, and cant wait for whenever they release a new cd, the cello sounds amazing. This band has some of the greatest lyrics ive ever read, and unlike some other "emo" bands, they've got powerful and beautiful music to back it up. Now i don't have to think about it when someone asks who my favorite band is. And now, im going to do some blatant advertising, so excuse me. Please try to take your eyes off the wonders that are Cursive's lyrics, and come check out Jaded Teenager's lyrics. That's my band, by the way. Dear Lord, nobody has commented on this classic piece of American music? A travesty! Anyway, its too bad that a great bass line was ruined on this, this...thing. Strangely though, i have a strange fascination with it, a sickness more likely. I know a good bit of the words, and if i hear it playing, i never fail to get up and start rapping it. I dont know why, perhaps some new form of sadomasochism. Also, im not a very violent guy, but i can honestly say that if Aaron Carter was here right now, i would not fail to beat the living crap out of him. He acts like an arrogant little punk, and i would not mind whacking him with a baseball bat a good 3 or 4 hundred times. And i can't say that about just anybody, so you know he holds a special place in my heart. Anyway, in the words of the great "Aaron C", here's a little bit of old school for ya: old school blatant advertisement. hmm, RaMoNeS man, seeing as how you like puddle of mudd, i think we can all safely assure that your opinion holds little to no substantial intergrity. But, hey, at least you like the Ramones. Anyway, this song is quite the catchy one, and im glad to see JEW hit the big time, as i am when any great band becomes popular. As long as they don't change to make money, im cool. I admit, its a little disorienting to hear people sing every word to the song, when those same people used to only listen to prefabricated crap. But hey, if they're discovering what real music is, im happy. Lets hear it for all these great bands, such as the strokes, the white stripes, dashboard, saves the day, and many others who have deserved success for quite a while, and are finally reaping the benefits of their artistic gifts. Anyway, this song seems to be my favorite off the CD, i catch myself singing it all the time, and every time im riding in my friends car, and he puts this CD on, i change it to this track. Plus, i love how on the line "I never let you hold me back", he lets the line keep going until his voice basically gives out. Great song, by a great band. Ah, my good friend who has introduced me to many great bands also introduced me to this one. Or this man. But now its a band. Ah, whatever. I didnt really get into Dashboard until a long car ride where its (He? Geez) all i listened to. Now im in love with the man. Some people all are pissed because you can see Chris on MTV, but you know what, screw it? Its about time a good band, musician whatever is becoming big and taking up valuable teen idol time. I admit, its a little weird seeing all these former Britney fans quoting Dashboard in their profiles and stuff, but it makes me happy. To get to the song, definitely the best off the LP, and a nice continuation of the legacy Chris is already lying down. Man, my friends and I were sitting around watching Cartoon Network and the video for this popped up with old Betty Boop style cartoons playing. At the time, we thought that was the greatest thing ever. Even now, this song is awesome, and the band is highly creative, certainly Cakeish, or perhaps Cake is just very SoulCoughingish. Either way, good music all around |
