Eve 6 – How Much Longer Lyrics 22 years ago
Since no one else has anything to say about this song, I'll try to figure it out. First of all, this is a really good song to be track 1. It's makes me want to bob my head.

The pre-chorus (Peers don't know...can be) makes me think that this guy feels like shit on he inside, but hides his feelings from the outside world because he's afraid of breakngt the status quo. The lyric "A stone has blocked my houglass/No progress made, no time's run out" makes it sound like he's in a rut. Nothing bad is happening in his life, but nothing good is happening either. I think he wants to hold on to this security of knowing that nothing's going to change, so he plays it safe by hiding his true feelings from everyone else.

Queens of the Stone Age – God Is In The Radio Lyrics 22 years ago
The first interpretation of this song makes sense, since it fits in with the whole modern-radio-plays-crappy-music motif of the album. However, I had intepreted it the same way as moe2000, as a more straightforward song. It's a great song no matter which way you look at it.

Rage Against the Machine – Wake Up Lyrics 22 years ago
I first heard this song, like most people, when Neo hung up the phone (if you haven't seen The Matrix, rent it today). This song shares a lo of the same imagery of the Matrix. In the movie, a group of rebels are trying to get people to "wake up" to the fact that thy are being enslaved by the machines. The agents who try to supress the rebels are like a government (any government, not just the US) who tries to supress people like Nelson Mandela.

Also, I'd like to know what Darktoss's problem is. What's so bad about Avril Lavigne's music? Sure, it's pop music, but sometimes you need pop music to make you feel good. Nothing against RATM, but if you only listen to angry music, it makes you an angry person, like Darktoss here. It makes you want to go on a sooting spree, like Mekyl.

Also, in response to Ar3s, this song's opening riff DOES sound a lot like Kashmir.

George W. Bush – MTV Lyrics 22 years ago
Dude, you're a hypocrite. You write a song about people jumping on the bandwagon, but you're jumping on the bandwagon yourself. Everyone makes fun of MTV just because they play popular music. Sometimes MTV plays videos that are good, but they can't just play one type of music.

System of a Down – Boom! Lyrics 23 years ago
On SOAD's website, they have an interview with the band on the set of the "Boom" video. One of the guys says how Americans need to stop getting all their information from TV. I wouldn't put it past the government to lie to us. It isn't what they're telling us; it's what they're not telling us. Personally, I'm worried that the government is going to totally fuck up post-war Iraq, and we're going to have the entire middle east hating us. Anyway, this is a great song, like most of SOAD's stuff, and even though it was written before the Iraq thing started (most of the songs on Steal This Album! are leftovers from Toxicity), the message is just as powerful.

System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics 23 years ago
Ok, I was gonna say what Malakian said about this song, but I noticed that Kdog30001 had already done so. I agree that the whole Jesus thing is a metaphor, not to be taken literally. Anyway, this is one of the best songs ever written, and I mean it when I say that. Most of the time, when I buy an album by a band, the bug hit single ends up becoming the song I skip cause I've heard it so many times. On the contrary, this is possibly my favorite song on Toxicity even after hearing it so many times.

Matthew Sweet – Holy War Lyrics 23 years ago
Wow. The fact that Matthew Sweet wrote this before 9/11 shows how awesome he really is. It's basically about the hypocrisy of Jihad, or Holy War. I didn't think the guy who wrote "Girlfriend" could be political too, but I guess I was wrong. I don't know if you could apply this to the war the Iraq, since it's not about Holy War, but rather a power struggle.

Matthew Sweet – Girlfriend Lyrics 23 years ago
I can really identify with this song. He's talking about a girl he's in love with, and he's convinced they would be perfect for each other. Unfortunately, he's never gonna set her free, which means that he knows that it's never gonna happen between them.

Barenaked Ladies – Jane Lyrics 23 years ago
this song isnt about a street corner. that's where it gets the name "jane st. clair." as for jane, she's a girl who loves being admired by men but doesnt want to waste her time with any of them. this guy is saying "you never even gave me a chance." great song.

Barenaked Ladies – In The Car Lyrics 23 years ago
this song is about his first sexual experience. akward, bumbling, "mostly mutual masterbation." this girl sounds like a friend of his that he fooled around with and never talked to after that. he didnt love her, but he'll always remember her cause she was his first. bnl has a bunch of freaky songs like this.

Incubus – Drive Lyrics 23 years ago
i think the drinking-and-driving aspect is the most creative, and that was my interpretation. but i totally disagree with tryloya's interpretation. she likes the "motivational quility" but doesnt like the motivation. wtf? she "clearly" took the song out of context, and "clearly" assumes that christianity is the only way to live. not only does she try to inject religion into a good, secular song, but she gets it totally worng in the process. and just so you know im an atheist, and i do think that faith and fear go hand in hand. shove that up your jesus freak behind!
