It's about people who justify persecution, death, and destruction as "Holy". The hypocrisy of killing in the name of "God". Not necessarily about just the Jihad, but about how everyone thinks it's ok to tailor things to fit explanations that justify them and how, if there is a "God" or what have you, he'd obviously see through it...
Wow. The fact that Matthew Sweet wrote this before 9/11 shows how awesome he really is. It's basically about the hypocrisy of Jihad, or Holy War. I didn't think the guy who wrote "Girlfriend" could be political too, but I guess I was wrong. I don't know if you could apply this to the war the Iraq, since it's not about Holy War, but rather a power struggle.
