| The New Pornographers – Adventures in Solitude Lyrics

I'm not really sure what this song is about, but I'm leaning towards someone opting to go it alone, whether the times are good or bad, but ultimately realizing that there are people in their life who care and are waiting for them when they're ready.
I couldn't agree more about the "We thought we lost you"s. The first time I heard this song I started crying, having gone through several things alone, often of my own choice. It was the first time I realized the people in my life care about me. I still get a wave of emotion every time they start singing that part. |

This is by far my favorite song about rape.
Flickerstick was my first concert, and when Brandin sang this song, instead of 18, he said "She's only 15", which, obviously, was my age at the time. But you can't rape the willing, though, now can you? |

Why haven't more people posted about this song? I think that this songs perfectly encompasses simple beauty. Less is definitely more. I wish that it would just go on forever. |

I think that this song is about a woman who left her husband, because he doesn't, or won't, realize who she even is, and she's dug herself into a life that doesn't satisfy her inner self at all, so she's leaving. The man is clueless and will never understand why she did it. |

Dispite any inner meaning, I really just like the song purely based on the line "Grampa's happy watchin' video porn with the closed caption on". E has one of my favorite senses of humor. |

I completely agree about the "Don’t know about God/ but I believe in you" part. It seems to embody the essence of the song. I never knew the backstory, but now it makes a lot more sense. |

The reason I love this song is because the lyrics so simply capture the humanity of the characters depicted, and the music itself seems to mirror the effect of the lyrics. The ability to create music like this is truly a gift. |

This is definitely the unsung hero of this album. I love this song, and I think that it's one of their ultimate bests. |

When they played this in concert with the two disco balls, I nearly cried. Sigur Rós can make anything beautiful, even cheesy mirror balls. |

What I like about this entire album is you can interperet any meaning whatsoever to any of the songs. I especially love this one, beause it reminds me of when right after it rains in the summer, and you're just watching the clouds dissapate with someone you love. |
