Breakin' the Law (Destroyer cover) Lyrics
I can never place the name with the face
I can never place the name with the face
Don't touch me
Don't touch me up to the tee by the numbers
It's not much but I'm going under
It's not much but I'm going under
It's not much but I'm going under
Liar, liar, everything's on fire
So I don't want to hear how you crossed the wires
Don't touch me, don't touch me up
Watch, I'll take it to the river
You'll come too, little Indian giver
You'll come too, little Indian giver
You'll come too, little Indian giver
So give us the keys now
We'll burn this hall of justice down
Around the ankles, or just to the ground
Hats off to the city fathers
They're no longer a hundred feet tall
They're no longer, no longer
And we're just here
Another hundred feet stronger
I can never place the name with the face
Don't touch me up to the tee by the numbers
It's not much but I'm going under
It's not much but I'm going under
It's not much but I'm going under
So I don't want to hear how you crossed the wires
Don't touch me, don't touch me up
Watch, I'll take it to the river
You'll come too, little Indian giver
You'll come too, little Indian giver
You'll come too, little Indian giver
We'll burn this hall of justice down
Around the ankles, or just to the ground
Hats off to the city fathers
They're no longer a hundred feet tall
They're no longer, no longer
And we're just here
Another hundred feet stronger

brilliant song, originally a Destroyer song from his first album "We'll build them a golden bridge".
this is pretty much a political\social issues song, being non-canadian i can't read too much into it, if it is indeed that kind of a song.
ok, the end of this song where they all start screaming, or whatever the fuck it is they're doing, is GREAT!
I think a key in this song is the line "You'll come too, little Indian giver." Anyone ever notice that they don't do this song live very often? I got them to do it last time I saw them. Too bad I didn't know that it was dan's song, or else I would have tried to get him do it when I saw Destroyer a couple months later. That would have been cool! Lol.
This is the song that got me into the New Pornographers. Fucking fantastic, one of my all-time favorites.
