| of Montreal – Heimdalsgate Like a Promethean Curse Lyrics | 16 years ago |
To me it's pretty obvious that it's not about chemicals in the brain, nor illegal substances. I feel like it's about medication. Basically, if you are bipolar you will take two kinds of medication, usually lithium and anti-depressants. They will bring you to a normal mood level but the bad thing is that they sorta kill your creativity. Thus the strangling of pens and such. I think that's a struggle for anyone on meds. They make you feel better but at the same time they make you feel worse. Perhaps he's been on medication before, stopped and then is trying them again (perhaps for the nth time) hoping that this time it'll actually work for him. |

about getting older. not very old myself, but i guess everyone feels like this about their younger days regardless of their age. possibly my favourite saybia song |
| Mew – Introducing Palace Players Lyrics | 16 years ago |
As much as I love Mew and this song (november will be amazing indeed), I think the lyrics are pure bullshit. I mean that in the nicest sense, mind. The words on this new album seem to be just thrown in the pot to fit with the music and perhaps create neat oneliners every now and then. That doesn't mean it's not an amazing album, for it is. I might be wrong. There might be some meaning behind all of this, but I doubt it is the main point. |

| Mansun – I Can Only Disappoint U Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I never thought i could love a song with only two chords, but then this came and slapped me in the face. agree with the first comment "And here, I faltered, gun in my hand And you, with "piggies" scrawled on your wall" reference to the Tate-murder, but why i do not know. |
| Dog Fashion Disco – Gardenia Lyrics | 16 years ago |
surprised to see no comments here. This, to me, is a very important song in the history of DFD as it is probably the only one that is genuinely pretty. No oompa loompas here. Not really sure what it can be about, but it seems to refer to someone who has recently passed away but refuse to "go to the light", so to speak. There seem to be two conflicting lines, though. "he turned out the lights" seems to talk about a third person who killed the person in question, but "the life you chose to end" seems more like suicide. Does anyone have a theory on this? |

| Ottawan – D.i.s.c.o. Lyrics | 16 years ago |
ah, reminds me of the scene in Queer as Folk when Vincent reads the lyrics out at Phil's funeral. Probably one of the most hillarious and awkward scenes ever. the song, as well, never fails to make me lol. |
| Mew – Special Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i think it's rather obvious that it's about sex. they even have the quite crude, yet common phallic symbol of a rocket. the whole song, to me, is a bit dirty even though nothing dirty is said. The beat is dirty anyway. :) But in a way, I think that it's about two people who only meet up for sex (or if they only meet up once, i don't know) and thus don't care about showing their "good side" like you'd do if you wanted a relationship. So you can see the worst of someone but you don't care 'cause it's just sex yeah? |
| Erlend Øye – Sudden Rush Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song is about premature ejaculation, or cumming in your pants. whichever you like. | |
| Hej Matematik – Du og jeg Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| not the most insightful lyrics on the planet, but this band is amazing!!! | |
| Kent – Elefanter Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Håller med Radionaut. allt det där med "ödet värre än döden" osv våldtäkt/misshandel följt av självhat. typ. |
| Kaizers Orchestra – Ompa Til Du Dør Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| hehe brutal stuff | |
| Kaizers Orchestra – Salt & Pepper Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Pretty sure "pepper" is gunpowder. No mentioning of what "salt" might be but... coke? haha. maybe. |
| Kent – Gravitation Lyrics | 16 years ago |
rough translation (based on the actual lyrics which are only a tad different) I stand here, frozen Finally still Like gravitiation, something sharp I will never hurt you again Du stick to my polaroid perfectly Terrified, you blink, when I stand next to you You back off when my hand is just about to touch yours But that's how it has to be That's how we want it, now That's how it has to be Like a perfect and wonderful law Perfect and indestructable Like me My back against the wall in the end Finally over A difficult situation, for sure I've dreamed about for so long now A hand around my neck And breathing becomes difficult A hand around my neck squeezing way too hard And my legs cannot carry my body anymore Stand But that's how it has to be That's how we want it, now That's how it has to be Like a perfect and wonderful law Perfect and indestructable Like me One of the most honest and powerful lyrics there is. |

| Polkadot Cadaver – What's the Worst Thing that Could Happen? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| warm wamer disco = classic! | |
| Polkadot Cadaver – Pure Bedlam for Halfbreeds Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is definitely the song with the best lyrics from the album. Maybe even if you include DFD's history. What it's about? I have no idea. probably a lot of different things. doesn't matter, though. some really good oneliners there :) |
| Kent – Columbus Lyrics | 18 years ago |
You've been thinking all that's been said about me You can believe all you've heard about me You can ask questions about the truth Does it exist, or are there thousands? Answer straight from the heart now I don't need your compassion If this is supposed to be all So hold me tight, Hold me, darling, now Stockholm slowly awakens, high on drugs and grief The snow spreads its innocence all the way to Kungsholm's square It feels like like when I came here, way back in 93 A tiny row of footprints, an unknown continent Please let go, let go now I can stand, walk or crawl away from here If this is all we have time for So hold me tight, my darling The city slowly awakens, and I'm drunk again The snow spreads its innocence, because all the shit just feels It feels like like when I came here, way back in 93 A tiny row of footprints, an unknown continent The city slowly awakens, and I'm drunk again The snow spreads its innocence all the way to Kungsholm It feels like when we came here, to the land of opportunities You can follow my tracks home, Colombus was my name I like this song :) |

| Kent – Ingenting Lyrics | 18 years ago |
A rough translation, * is pre-chorous and **chorous. In Hagnesta Hill the TV lights flutter I do what I can, dreaming away In Hagnesta Hill, among the identical houses We twitch, commercials paused for sports *Nothing, first came nothing Then came nothing, then came nothing But nothing is nothing **Those bastards took us one by one They lied and betrayed us with the truth Those bastards took my darling there From the crest of the hill I can see my lost world I'm going to do something, you'll be amazed Cross a line, I'll break out I love you so, like being armed And under siege I can shoot you out |
| Beck – Arabian Nights Lyrics | 18 years ago |
no comments?! this is like the better version of hollywood freaks. definitely one of the better songs of the midnite vultures album the lyrics probably do have some meaning. to me, to me it sounds like he took a newspaper and started singing the words he saw while flipping through it. headlines with mixed various words while turning the pages. |
| Beck – Tropicalia Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i love the glass-rubbing sound. | |
| Anna Ternheim – Lovers Dream Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Best song released this year, hands down. I love it, and theduet version with Fyfe Dangerfielt is, if possible, even better. To me, the haunting music gives a whole new quality to the lyrics which, otherwise, would be somewhat lame. But her apathetic wa of singing makes it somewhat creepy. I like it. It makes the story sound more like obsession than plain i-like.you. |
| Erasure – Breath Of Life Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I know this song was written before Andy says he knew he was HIV-positive, but still I can't help but think about it when I hear this song. Sort of the stage right after acceptance and overcoming the fear of death; wanting to live fully until the very end. At least that's the feeling I get from the song. After a long, hard time I found out, last year, that i was BPD and knowing that lead to a lot of feelings. Frustration, among other things. But after a while, acceptance and also, in a way, a will to embrace it. And somehow listening to this song gives me hope that I can do anything. Kind of. It's very liberating. |
| Dio – Holy Diver Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i don't see how a person who listens to metal in general can see any depth in this song. if there was any, i'd be surprised. but the telling-the-tale-of-a-hero theme is very very over used in metal in general and i think this is just another one of those songs. period. |
| Scott Matthew – Little Bird Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i'm pretty sure the " am absolutely shocked how are you" is supposed to be "i'm absolutely sure i'm all yours" at least that is what it sounds like. beautiful song by the way. i love ukelele and i'm delighted that he made it sound so fragile and pretty instead of plain dorky. |
| Beck – Girl Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i always thought he said "sunnah", haha. | |
| The Black Crowes – Go Faster Lyrics | 18 years ago |
my favourite black crowes song. it's just plain awesome. meaning wise, i find it to be slightly sexual at times. But basically, a relationship that WILL hapen sooner or later but he wants it to move on faster than it does at the moment. |
| Freak Kitchen – Seven Days In June Lyrics | 18 years ago |
quite obviously about shared custody; an issue where the law favours the mother. So if mom and dad has a bad relationship, well, the father might be pretty screwed. difficult issue indeed |
| VNV Nation – Further Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I see this song as very self-reflecting as a Nihilist (we all know that a lot of VNV's song has a somewhat nihilistic point of view). A person that believes in nothing and is so content and proud of that until they realize that the fact that their lack of belief only leads to a feeling of hopelessness and a reduced will to live. Thus "giving up in darkness". The last part seems like a vow to oneself to break free from the negative spiral and to, maybe, try to see some hope. And when/if they manage, they will look back at what is now and wonder what the hell they were doing. |
| Current 93 – Soft Black Stars Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I lovelovelove this song and I'm surprised no one has commented on it yet. To me, the "soft black stars" is a symbol of something pure and untouched. Like children. But as they get told how to think (by perhaps religion - the book, the letter and the word) that all disappears and the innocence of the soft black stars is no longer. I think this song is a longing to be innocent; to not know how cruel this world can be. And a longing to maybe just sit there under the stars without a single worry. |
| Current 93 – A Song For Douglas After He's Dead (Rebirth) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
On the "as the world disappears" album, Tibet says before playing this song; "for my friend Douglas who's somewhere in Europe but always in my heart" This song is probably the weirdest and, in a way, most morbid displays of affection i've ever heard, but it is also the most sincere. makes me wish i could have a friend like david t. :) |
| Dima Bilan – It's Not That Simple Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i don't really agree with the above commenter. judging by the genre, yes, it was probably meant to be a love song but i find it kind of creepy. old story. boy finds girl. boy falls in love with girl. girl leaves boy- boy is heartbroken. except the pain of losing someone you love sounds more like a frustration of losing a possession. "we were supposed to be together forever. you weren't supposed to leave me. you were MINE." not the best composed lyrics, but the underlying tone is certainly interesting. |
| VAST – Pretty When You Cry Lyrics | 18 years ago |
to me, the sadism/masochism is pretty clear. a person realizes that the only way he can maintain a relationship is by opressing his partner and even though an equal relationshiop might be the most desired, it is so much more difficult and dangerous. because if showing that you are vulnurable too (like showing emotions) you are at great risk. so i'd say thiong portrays a downward spiral when a person succumbs to a sadistic nature (even though that may not be his true nature) which backfires, making him more unsure of himself and results in even more sadistic behaviour. Maybe as a self-punishment. Or maybe because it's the only thing this person knows. Been there, done that; and it's the only way i can interpret this song. pretty clever lyrics. |
| Lasse Lindh – Trigger Happy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| a lovely little song about people intentionally screwing up their relationships. one of my favourites of his. unfortunately it's not as well known as a lot of his songs in swedish. it's a shame. | |
| Dog Fashion Disco – Sweet Insanity Lyrics | 18 years ago |
kind of reminds me of the "just because you're crazy doesn't mean i'm not here to kill you". FulciFan, i agree. adultery is brilliant but can't compete with the earlier, more experimental, stuff. even so, i was hoping for a new album after this. it's always sad to see your favourite band go. also, Fulci is kickass. |
| Dredg – Sanzen Lyrics | 19 years ago |
actually, the meaning of "sanzen" doesn't have to be that complex and buddhism-connected. in japanese, sanzen means 3000. i have a hard time thinking that this would have anything with buddhism to do at all. though i don't know why they would name a song "3000". maybe they just.. liked the word. as for the ret |
| Dredg – Sang Real Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this is one of the best songs i've ever heard. the piano is just amazing. we're all the same. the same dead body with the corner. we're all a piece of the society we live in and we destroy ourselves. maybe? i have no idea :) |
| Anna Ternheim – To Be Gone Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this is probably one of the best songs i've ever heard. her voice is just amazing. | |
| Adam Green – Her Father And Her Lyrics | 19 years ago |
female sexual power over men? no idea but i agree with above commenter most likely his best. i love the guitar. |
| Adam Green – Hard To Be A Girl Lyrics | 19 years ago |
to me, this song is about how so many people claim that it's so hard to be a girl but really easy to be a boy. Teenage boys "staying in their rooms" (with porn? 8D) because they're scared of talking to girls, or simply just don't know what to say to them. and in the end, he assumes it's better to be lonely since, well, it's easier. i might be over analyzing, but i think it makes sense. |
| Dog Fashion Disco – Leper Friend Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The drums on this song are brilliant. | |
| Katatonia – Evidence Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| to me this song is about taking the punishment for someone else because you made a promise. whether it's an actual punishment/crime or just methaphorically speaking i don't know. but it's beautiful. probably my favouite Katatonia song. | |
| Ellegarden – Space Sonic Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Ellegarden is really one of my favourite bands and i love how they are getting better and ebtter with each album ^-^ to me, this song is about learning to deal with the pain and knowing that even though it hurts, the world won't end.. more or less. "'Cause I found the way to live with that I'm not going anywhere I thought you'd only make me weak That's wrong" what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. |
| Dog Fashion Disco – Grease Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| people who like to think that dfd only copies mr.bungle egts another erason to do so with this song haha. we all know that mr. bungle too has used the grease chorous in one of their songs. XD | |
| Dog Fashion Disco – Vertigo Motel Lyrics | 19 years ago |
lyrics wise, anarchists of good taste was dfd's best. i dread they will never become that good again XD to me this is about deceit and maybe some wish for revenge. if i was going to play a song for someone that would resemble DFD it would be this one. they use so many different styles and then put most of them together in this song. brilliant! |
| Dog Fashion Disco – The Magical Band Of Fools Lyrics | 20 years ago |
as all of Dog Fashion Disco's lyrics, these are just amazing. I think a lot of the meaning of the song can be read in the line: "only fools believe they won't get fooled again" this is my absolute favourite song of theirs and it's a shame no one has commented so far ^^ |
| Electric Six – Electric Demons in Love Lyrics | 20 years ago |
is it just me or are the first two lines be borrowed from the movie "Magnolia" where the old quiz kid drowns his sorrow in alcohol? I don't blame them if it is since it is probably the best lines from a movie.. ever. |
| Primal Scream – Pills Lyrics | 22 years ago |
this song is about psychosis...(no shit????) as always ;) |
| Kreator – Violent Revolution Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| oh, this one is sooo good! i really love it. the lyrics are kind of hateful against the society and the common pepole. i love the rage in this song. | |
| Raging Speedhorn – Thumper Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| i like the effect when the vocals are kind of mixed up together. it's like .. mm..yeaah :D | |
| Soft Cell – Tainted Love Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| the part "baby, baby whrere did our love go?.....please don't leave me no more.." is not in 'tainted love.. it is a Supremes-song that soft cell has covered.. quite good actually:) | |
| The Black Crowes – Soul Singing Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| theese lyrics are wonderful. it's such a simple song, really, but it's so good! "you got my soul singin'".. what else can i say? | |
