| David Bazan – People Lyrics

Is this song not about loss of faith in a conviction? it seems like another bazan story of coming out of christianity. frankly, i think it's goddamn beautiful, but i wonder if that's what other people consider the song to be about. |

"along them U.P. tracks, omaha-bound." Union Pacific is an independent railroad company that owns a vast majority of rails from the midwest to the west coast.
"where life began and where it will end." that's what i hear, and it's kind of in line with "big bang." also, it ties nicely into "from a rabbit-hole you sprung, and night after night, you keep poking your head back in." |

"kentucky rye." a type of whiskey
"i could saddle up with the town floozy." a term for a loose woman.
"in bed we can share emotional scars. you're dead-eyed dad, my AWOL mom."
"i don't need another foolish fling, as long as i've got a sooooooooooooong, uh huh." song's about writing about fucking loose women, not actually fucking loose women. so it makes sense. |

| Tim Kasher – A Bluer Sea Lyrics

i'm pretty sure a lot of these lyrics are wrong, or i'm hearing them incorrectly.
instead of "state of masochist/state of monogamist," i'm pretty sure it's "sadomasochist/sadomonogamist"
"which job" should be "whichever"
"a word once hang off" should be "a blind man's hang-up"
"a women old and knew and used and warned me" should be "of women old and new and used and lonely"
i don't know what "before they flee, who'll take you seriously" has more words in the line, but i'm having trouble deciding what they actually are.
and i think it says "those women you once loved have open arms that you abruptly shoved aside for the next one"
also, in repetition, i think "high regrets" is actually "i regress"
that's just what i hear when i listen to it. i don't know if it's accurate, since i have the digital download copy and don't have a lyrics book. |

i really hate how this applies to the summer i just had. and my summer also involved an australian. it's such a melancholy feeling to have evoked from such a peppy song. |

the guitar before "you want to wipe that slate" reminds me of happy hollow for no good reason. new cursive equals old cursive plus masturbation references, and i love it. |

| Cursive – After the Movies Lyrics

i'm listening to it now, and i keep rewinding right to "these sad songs won't change anything." it sounds like two voices say, after "love as fragile as a wine glass," "it could've been forever," and "it should have been forever." there's a definite k- sound, but also a sh- sound. |

it's actually a bright eyes/neva dinova split, benson. the sensical reason for labeling it a bright eyes song is attributing it to its writer. the sensical reason for not labeling it a bright eyes song is attributing it to the person singing.
as for the people question, i'd assume they're based on people. "names changed to protect the innocent," for the most part. i've never met an arienette or a jetsabel. |

| Dashboard Confessional – So Long, So Long Lyrics

in the concert at pittsburgh, the band stretched the end of "remember to breathe" for a few minutes, splicing in excerpts from not only woe, by say anything, but some brand new and a look at a future [cover?] song.
i think that's what they were talking about. |

"...one more breath away from yesterday..." is the lyric.
and i think it was made clear what the point of the song is. in the lyrics. in plain english. |

| The Spill Canvas – The Tide Lyrics

there seems to be something too concrete about your explanation, molly. the situation with the father could be taken a lot of different ways, considering the words.
'but he's not coming back.' he could be dead, or he could have left. both are possible, though i tend to lean toward the latter, considering the negativity the mother expresses toward the concept of 'love.'
also, the 'bedridden by her ex-lover, their father' line could be referencing physical abuse, or more likely a state of deep depression. that would more easily cause neglect, literal or metaphorical, and also contribute to the anti-love sentiment.
the beach is a metaphor. the tide, the waves and the ocean are metaphors. not living past 15 is a metaphor. the majority of the song is a metaphor... for what, exactly, i don't think anyone but nick could definitely say.
great song, however you look at it. not exactly uplifting, but expertly crafted, thought provoking, and equally catchy. hoorah for the spill canvas. |

| Bright Eyes – Messenger Bird's Song Lyrics

'so you made me come...'
double entendre, anyone?
lyrically, and musically, one of the greatest songs i've ever heard. without question. and, as far as any 'bright eyes circles' go, this song is already popular. we all love it, as you can tell, and that's all that matters.

I'd put myself in the same category as the Box. I really do build people (girls) up before i really know (go out with) them so a kiss from one would most likely stop my heart for a good three minutes. But seriously, the So Impossible EP is exactly the way I want my romantic life to play out. I mean, I've already got the "For you to notice" part down... |

I personally think that there are much better songs on the CD and that its not FSF's best work, but thats for personal reasons and experiences. This song is great, no doubt about it, but you cant belittle the album simply by saying this is the greatest song... |

| Thursday – Understanding In A Car Crash Lyrics
| 23 years ago
|
|
i think what makes this song so great is that it does have a definite meaning, the car crash accident thing, but there are so many things in it that people can relate to, parts of the song reach out to different topics depending on whos listening to it. At first I'd thought that "staring at the setting sun, no reason to come back again" was almost a suicide note... It takes new meaning for everyone listening. |
