So Long, So Long Lyrics
Hand out the window
Floatin’ on air
Just a flip of the wrist
I’d be wavin’ a goodbye
Drive past the lifeguard stand
Where I sit around waiting for you to remember
(As i drive..)
How the girls could turn to ghosts before your eyes
And the very dreams that led to them are keeping them from dying
(keeping them)
And how the grace with which she walked into your life
Will stay with you in your steps, and pase with you a while
So long, so long
So long, so long
The speaker in this door is blown
So nothing sounds quite right
(Taking my time, taking this drive,
waving this town goodbye)
And I drive this ocean road
And I remember
(The small of your back
And the nape of your neck
I remember everything as i drive..
waving this town goodbye)
How the girls can turn to ghosts before your eyes
And the very dreams that led to them are keeping them from dying
(keeping them..)
And how the grace with which she walked into your life
will stay with you in your steps and pace with you a while
So long, So long,
So long, So long,
So long, so long,
so long, So Long
taking my time taking this drive..
so long, So Long...
so long, so long
So long, So Long
(And I will leave under the cover
Of summer’s kiss upon the sky
Like the stone-face of your lover
Just before she says, "goodbye"
I was certain that the season could be held between my arms
Just as Summer’s hold is fleeting
I was here) but now I’m gone
(So long, So long)
I’m gone
(so long, So long)
I’m gone I’m gone
I’m gone I’m gone
I’m gone
(so long, so long)
I’m gone I’m gone
I’m gone I’m gone
I’m gone
(so long, so long)
I’m gone I’m gone...
Floatin’ on air
Just a flip of the wrist

If there are any two artists who truly sing with passion, it's Chris and Adam Duritz. beautiful song
i think in the song, hes trying to find closure with the summer. In the summer, you feel like it is going to last forever, but in the end it dissapearins and is over before you're ready to go back to reality. The song also has that element of how a girl or even summer memories linger and stay with you, or become attached to place, ex. the beach with the life guard stand, long after the moment and the season are over.
i just love adam duritz in the background.
just heard this song tonite at the show in pittsburgh, couldn't understand it when i heard it, but now that i look at it....it reminds me of the senior trip i just took with all my friends. it's about a summer and a place that means alot to you coming to an end, great anthem for any seniors about to lose all of their familiar surroundings....."And I will leave under the cover Of summer’s kiss upon the sky "
I was at that show last night--anybody else crap their pants when they found out that Chris can not only write amazing lyrics, kick ass on guitar, sing with more passion than anyone I've ever heard, but also play piano?
ditto on that leewee. that show was nothing short of perfection. minus thrice. blah to them. but this song is just so amazing. because summer seems to be so final sometimes. summer is like a vacation from life sometimes. yes. chris is so talented. and how awesome was it that he kept smiling throughout the enitre show. he was so happy to be there!
I love this song. The show in Pittsburgh was amazzzzing. He's so talented.
I was certain that the season could be held between my arms But just as summer’s hold is fleeting I was here and now I’m gone
I love that
heresyourletter, those are definitely my favorite lines in the song--- good taste ;) greymonday, you're so right about the smiling thing...i have to say that i was expecting more of an angsty emotion when he sang (and he definitely did grit his teeth on a few lyrics, which i loved)...but every time he would let us scream some lyrics on our own, he would smile and i would find myself smiling right back, even if it was the most heartbreaking song. what an amazing guy. anybody watch letterman last night? he definitely rocked it, but nothing could compare to that show in pittsburgh...
i love chris' intensity when he sings. i'd have to agree with veroamore6 this song is about a summer road trip. chris is so talented, he captures feelings in a way that nobody can and so long, so long is a perfect example of this.
the finality of a summer road trip. closure kind of.
