This song could be about anything, and I, personally, get that sense of the most poetic, romantic nostalgia, I think, that I've ever experienced.
Of course, I find this to be true with most NMH songs, especially off this album.

I think I agree that "the wolf that comes to many homes these days, just had pups in my kitchen" is saying that the evil that spreads so easily just goes right into people's homes. and rather than them fighting against the corruption, they give in because they too are corrupt in the sense that money is more important than good: "I sold them, here is the money" Showing the fact that one would carry out the evil for money; the great human corruption.
Overall I think the song is about human corruption. About how money and the politics of anything is what drives our lives. "there are no churches, only prisons, only senators" -- saying even churches have become political.
and "see how they open up the gates for those who push them over" -- the people who corrupt the world are the ones running it. If you're "work[ing] the hardest" you "get the smallest"... and pushed over.

This song is amazing, it's my favorite, or well at least one of them. It's such a different sound but they lyrics mean something and his voice is absolutely amazing. |

I think of this that they're trying to say that christians can do things that give christianity a bad name because we're sinners too. I see it kind of like people need to look past the people who represent this's faults, and look toward what it's really about: ("don't let all those who come in christ's name fool you"). Because christians are just people too: ("if while we've been on our knees our eyes have been closed to all the pain and suffering, i cry out, "god, forgive us!""). I guess that's just my interpretation.
But it's a good song.

this song is so true. I'm not from canton or anything, but I am from a small town in ohio, and the song is still pretty true. it's like my life in words.

This song rocks!!!
At one of the concerts here in Ohio Matt told us a story about how when he was in high school he was on a farm and he found this chain and thought it was cool. So he put it around his neck and kept on all summer and when he went back to school his principle told him to take it off, so he went to the bathroom and took it off and had a gross tanline so he put it back on and got suspended.
So apperently this song is a lot about high school and him and stuff. I think it's awesome, cause it's so true. |

I think this song is awesome. The music and the lyrics and all of that stuff. It's just great. Relient K is just awesome. And about all the christian music stuff, I like the fact that people are humble enough to sing about what they believe, and thats really cool. I like listening to it cause a lot of times it well... "lifts me up". to be reminded that there's still someone out there, and I'm not the only one who feels how I do, I get that from a bunch of rk's other songs. I do admit that I listen to secular music too, but thats because it's good, and I think if you want to express your feelings, whatever they are, then great job. That's what music is about.
and I am really big on christianity. Really big on the fact that I've got a great relationship with god and jesus. Those of you who don't... you are missing out. I have those deep conversations with my non christian friends a lot and I think it's great that we can talk about it without shoving it in eachothers faces. So, I think it's awesome to talk about what you believe (calmly)- just don't force it. people are usually more apt to listen.
But this message board is about rk and this beyond awesome song. So go listen to it if you haven't heard it cause it rocks!
