i love howie...i heard about him at a band camp a couple years ago, and unfortunately, i couldn't make the concert...but i looked him up and got his "australia" cd...this has to be my favorite song off the cd...i think he's talking of a lost relationship...he wants it back, but then again he doesn't...and he's constantly haunted by the ghost of the relationship...it's like, he wants to be with her again (i wanna taste of love), and yet he doesn't want to see her anymore...his emotions are all confusing to him because he can't figure out exactly what he does want...i think it's about him trying to figure things out...to stay or to move on? that is the question...and if he moves on, can he bear it? or will he constantly be running into the ghost of her? |

i haven't gotten a chance to listen to the new cd, but i do love this song...i really like this song...i think the song is about him and his father...maybe his father abandoned him or just wasn't around enough in his life..."what kind of role model are you?"...he doesn't want to make the same mistakes his father made in his upbringing...so he's saying, i'm over you, you're no longer a part of me...and i think he's also saying "yeah, you came back to reconcile with me, but it's too late, you're a few years overdue"...but you can see how much pain letting go is causing him...he knows he has to do it, but the pain is still there... |

unlike some ppl here, i didnt' get into alkaline trio due to mtv (heck, i didn't even know they played alkaline trio)...a friend of mine got me into it actually b/c of some of the bands i listen to...i have to say that i love their lyrics...this song is especially great...the instrumentation is fairly good in my opinion...the lyrics are pretty symbolic...i admit, i don't understand them completely (as i'm still needing to get access to a few more alkaline trio songs) but i get the main gist of what he's saying...just, wow... |

probably my favorite song of all time...just the whole song is so beautiful...i especially love the instrumentation at the end...i think it's the ultimate song for any person to feel about another... |

when i first heard this song, i didn't look at it as a break up song but rather a sort of two ppl just met sort of song...as far as the 'akward silence' goes...i think i saw it as being by the insecure guy's perspective thinking the girl didn't like him and was just trying to shut him out when she was just closing her eyes to listen harder to what he was (or wasn't) saying...but i totally see the breakup view of the song as well... |
