I love this song- I can't belive there are no comments on this! I downloaded this song under a different name- Goth Queen. I think that title works better considering it's talking about some hot woman. But saying "she left yesterday" makes it sound like she was just some cheap whore in his studio appartment! That one line just takes away the magic. Like I'm picturing some beautiful Goth Queen all mysterious and intimidating in some barren field under black skies and ravens flying overhead- too bad I'm not an artist. I would be damn good if I had any friggin skill. |

I always thought this song was about some woman who just uses guys and then throws them away without mercy, but when I listened to it more closely, I realized it was about a man!!!! Note the references to a man. I was like WOAH.......well hey, I guess he was Bi, huh? |

I don't think it's about freddy's battle with aids. He's telling his mom he just killed a man, shot him I expect, and now he's gotta face the music. Hence "If I'm not back this time tomorrow, carry on". When it goes into the opera-like part, "Scaramouch scaramouch will you do the fandago," I've always pictured him cornering a little fat man and making him dance, like with bullets, you know that phrase...
When they do that whole "will you let me go" thing, it's the little fat man pleading for his life, but he's not gonna let him go. "Beelzebub has a devil put aside,"- he's saying I've commited a crime and now there's a place for me in hell.
That's about it for me, although I have to say I do agree with the vietnam war thing. that makes a lot of sense as well. I bet that even if you asked queen themselves, they would have more than one meaning for this song. |

I agwee. I love this song!!!!!! I think Voltaire's songs all sound the same intro-wise, but it's his lyrics you have to listen to. I emailed Voltaire, but no replies. Poo. Why can't he reply to every single email?! *sob* anyway yeah I like Voltaire cuz his songs have cool messages. and also he expresses things other artists wouldn't dare. Like the desire to kill. Grow up Goober! Have you ever even HEARD this song? It's a classic! Now I've never cracked open a bible, but I think there's a story in the bible that pertains to this song. Or rather, this song pertains to that story (I think the bible was out before Queen started up... lol).
