Van Morrison – Golden Autumn Day Lyrics 17 years ago
I've mixed feelings about this song. I think the 1st and 3rd verse are alright but the second verse it's actually quite bizarre but at the same time its pure Van: the man just lets his anger drive him during the song. The lyrical overall impression is quite strange: It could be a really beautiful song, because the string arrangements are superb and the lyrical introduction is quite beautiful but the 2nd verse with him complaining about a robbery.. well its quite nonsense. Anyway, I love listening to this song forgetting about the 2nd verse. Cheers to everyone.

The Jam – Thats Entertainment Lyrics 17 years ago
Are there two different studio recordings of this song? I ask this because in the one I have on the 'Beat Surrender' hits compilation Paul's voice sounds in a different way that in the version of the song I've downloaded (I suppose that this one is the single version).

I'd be thankful if anyone solves up my doubt. Cheers.

Little Richard – Lucille Lyrics 18 years ago
I always thought that in the last line of the 2nd verse it said:

"I beg it to you baby, please don't leave me alone"

Nice, catchy and rockin' song.. meaning is pretty obvious though. One of LR's highlights.

Oasis – She Is Love Lyrics 18 years ago
Look a this verse:

you're in all my thoughts of passion
and the dreams and my delight
whatever stirs my mortal frame
will you keep it warm at night

Doesn't it sounds similar to this Samuel Coleridge's statement:

"All thoughts, all passions, all delights, Whatever stirs this mortal frame, All are but ministers of Love, And feed his sacred flame."

Noel is said to write his lyrics when he's completely high but perhaps he's actually more deeper than we've thought previously..

Inspiral Carpets – This Is How It Feels Lyrics 18 years ago
Well.. the meaning is pretty obvious here. Is about a man cheatin' on his wife and how this thing affects the whole family.

I've heard a version of this by Man United hooligans:

"This is how it feels to be City, this is how it feels to be small, this is how it feels when your team wins nothing at all."

HAHAHAHAHA

Inspiral Carpets – This Is How It Feels Lyrics 18 years ago
The first time i heard about this band was because noel gallagher worked once as a roadie for 'em in their world tour back in the end of 80s - beginning of 90s so I decided to download some songs and the first I heard was this.. fell in love with the band since then. They got some other pretty damn good tunes but this rocks.

Bruce Springsteen – Radio Nowhere Lyrics 18 years ago
Well, i'm the first one to say a word about Bruce's new single here. It's a catchy tune but lyrics are pretty simple, i think he is just talkin' about loneliness and how he's trying to flee from it.

Oasis – Hello Lyrics 18 years ago
Lyrics are just great. But I don't really like the studio version of it and I don't even like it when it is sung by Liam. I like this song since I heard Noel coverin' it on the MTV acoustic back in '96.

Oasis – Turn Up The Sun Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is just stunnin'. The lyrics are just average but they go on pretty good with the rythm. I think it's best gig opener song that Oasis had ever, it just rocks. Somebody asked up there that which song was better in order to open a gig, if it was 'Hello' (from WTSMG?) or 'Turn Up The Sun', i would answer 'Turn Up The Sun' definetely, it's much more powerful although 'Hello' is an average tune when its sang by Liam Noel made it a truly great tune when he performed it at the MTV acoustic set in '96 if you hadn't the chance to listen to it, download it now!

The Rolling Stones – Honky Tonk Women Lyrics 18 years ago
Keith and Mick wrote this song when they were in a ranch in Brazil surrounded by cowboys and all that kind of stuff. Keith said that they felt like if they were isolated in the middle of Arizona so they decided to write a country song (the first recording of this song was clearly country: no electric guitar in it, the country version is called Country Honk) but then the Rolling Stones played some sessions with Ry Cooder and Richards was "inspired" by one Cooder's riff and used it all along the song though the lyrics are basically the same with little changes.

Jet – Are You Gonna Be My Girl Lyrics 18 years ago
This song becomes a classic to your ears when you hear it for the very first time. It's pretty simple but in its simplicity its a masterpiece. When I heard it for the first time I thought it was a 50s hit cover by Jet (about 4 years back, when I didn't know Jet yet) 'cos the lyrics are pretty similar to some rock hits of that decade: Short lines but very descriptive (if you don't like or you don't know 50's rock just listen to some of Chuck Berry's hits to understand what I'm sayin').

Keep on rockin', Jet!

Catchy song and nice lyrics. Fell in love with it since I saw the clip on TV for the very first time. I'm gonna download more Jamie T's stuff, I'm sure I'm gonna like it.

Bruce Springsteen – The River Lyrics 18 years ago
The first time I heard this song I was just shocked by the way he told this simply but stunnin' story of rural America. It's not the story.. it's the way he tolds it. He use simple worlds but in a very effective way so you can picture on your mind whats goin' on perfectly.. it remembers me to Berry's style and I'm sure that there is some kind of Berry's influence in this song (Bruce is a big fan of Chuck's music) in the writing although the topic is social (probably more influenced by other singers like Dylan.. didn't they say in the early years that Bruce was the new Dylan?). Anyway.. great, powerful and deep song.

Camera Obscura – Let's Get Out of This Country Lyrics 18 years ago
Yeah, this is the song that made me fan of them too. It's a pretty catchy tune with nice lyrics (specially for a sad and feeling-sorry-of-yourself day like maud said up there ;P) i'm goin' to two gigs of 'em in the next to days and i've never seen them live before so I hope they're are gonna amaze me live like they did with the studio album.

By the way, as you'll probably know Camera Obscura has a very similar sound to Belle And Sebastian (A band which I actually like even more than this one) but the other day I knew one fact that surprised me and that explains the influence that B&S had over Camera Obscura: Tracyane's elder sister (Isobel Campbell) was a former member of that band.

For the guys who don't know B&S yet, I suggest you to listen to all of their LP's, I'm sure you'll love then even more than Camera!

Oasis – Take Me Away Lyrics 20 years ago
"I'd like to be under the sea" is taken clearly from the Beatle's song Octopus' Garden written by Ringo Starr for the album "Abbey Road".

Oasis – Little James Lyrics 20 years ago
This song just stinks. I love Oasis but the main songwriter of Oasis was, is and will always be Noel Gallagher. Liam can't really write songs -I agree with Eatcarpet-. The only decent song that Liam brought us was Songbird from HC and it's not as good as the main highlights in the album -composed, obviously, by Noel-. In Don't Believe The Truth Liam seems to have improved his songwriting skills but it's still too far from Noel's skills. The best non-Noel song of DBTT is Andy Bell's song: Turn Up The Sun, a great rockin' song. It has the same opening effect in DBTT that the song "The Hindu Times" has in the album Heathen Chemistry.

Van Morrison – New Biography Lyrics 20 years ago
I can't believe this song haven't been commented yet. It's one of Van's best songs, and one of the highlights from Back On Top, one of Van's best albums too. I think it's just about people that talk cheaply about celebrity's life, inventing a lot of things just too get richer or to destroy the celebrity's image. I think it's a bit sad too, when he says "So faaar away... way back when,,, the people that claim, to have known me them" I think it is also a nostalgic son. Reading what people say/invent of him, reminds him of old situations and that bring his mind to the past and he starts to remember his days as a young man and feels that "time is slippin' away" so quickly..

Bob Dylan – Mississippi Lyrics 20 years ago
It's one of my favourites too. And I think it's the best track from Love and Theft. It was an outtake from Time Out Of Mind and I have heard a cover of this song played by Sheryl Crow. Lyrics are just great and I think he is just talking about death and about how time is slippin' so quickly and we can't avoid it anyway. Great song.

John Lennon – Dear Yoko Lyrics 20 years ago
I think it's a very nice song, it coud have been a hit if John Lennon erased the word Yoko from it. It's one of my favourites from the "Double Fantasy" album, nice melody, nice lyrics, i think it's great. And I think it's the best song than John made talkin' about Yoko, because Oh Yoko! wasn't too brilliant.

Oasis – Half The World Away Lyrics 20 years ago
It's a great song... it's just about when you're young and you can't stand anything, you can't stand your parents, your friends.. when you feel like you were much older than them and you're sick about everything and all you want to do is to leave your city..

Oasis – The Importance Of Being Idle Lyrics 20 years ago
It remembers me Lennon's songs like I'm Only Sleeping and Watching The Wheels, it's about the same topic, i think. In the interview of the DVD of DBTT Noel doesn't mention nothing about The Beatles's influence in this theme, but I think he was inspired by these Lennon's songs.. One of my Oasis' favourites

John Lennon – Watching The Wheels Lyrics 22 years ago
It's one of the greateste Lennon's songs and unfortunately, one of his last songs :(, the song talks about what people said to him when he was just having a rest with his son Sean and he was no longer on the music business.
