i agree with like you meant it... Most songs glorify love, and this one shows the harsh reality of it. It's a great song. It does fit well with Romeo and Juliet, but i think everyone can relate to it to some extent... |

Ooh. I just downloaded it, and this is one of the BEST fucking songs I've ever heard. I have no idea what it means... although it seems like each line, stanza, whatever is referring to some person or some incident from her past. |

Wow... Anything I'd have to say on the song would most likely be repetitive of what someone else already said at this point, but there are a lot of really interesting insights here. I'm mostly leaning toward the suggestion that it's about drugs, and I don't think it has anything to do with religion at all. The lines "Father/ Into your hands/I/commend my spirit" and "Why have you forsaken me?" remind me of someone that expects someone else to solve their problems for them, in this context expecting god/Fate to work it out for them, and then being disappointed and feeling "forsaken" when things don't just "work out."
Ah well, there's my two cents... someone's already said that, I didn't have the patience to read through all the comments. Awesome song, although it did get wayy overplayed. |

Shirley has NEVER sold herself, and she is not copying lyrics! As Riko pointed out, it's a REMAKE! Shirley is a brilliant lyricist, and if all you can get out of Shut Your Mouth is "whore slut slut whore shut your mouth," perhaps you're the stupid one. |
