I disagree with the suggestion that this is a bunch of random thoughts. I can't fit all the pieces together, but I don't think that is because of his writing, I think it's my own ignorance. When I first heard this song I thought it was about sex. I wasn't listening enough. Now I think it is about "waking up" to the things going on in this world. As for the title, when you realize you are part of a nation that has been committing horrible crimes against humanity, you start to feel ashamed of your species. And probably feel shame for the fact there are mindless zombies walking around oblivious to their surroundings. I think "walking around with your head cut off" is another way of calling people zombies... because if they aren't using their heads (or brain,) they are basically mindless zombies. Then he goes on to say... "Uh, yeah it's all in your mind baby You gotta do what you feel, like a blind lady You gotta spread your wings and just fly, baby It feel like you're reborn? That's my baby" Reinforcing the power of the mind. "She said she feel it in her soul like a vibrator I got some things for your thoughts we can try later" Could be a reference to feeling music, but given the prior lines, I think it goes deeper than that. It seems he is talking about meditation. When you meditate, you can feel energy vibrating throughout your body. I am very curious about the TNT reference. It sounds similar to DMT, to me. I think he was being purposefully cryptic, since this substance, naturally occuring in plants and humans, is actually illegal. Look it up. DMT is produced in the brain through meditation and dreaming. He also asks "is anybody really out there breathing?" Could mean, "are you alive, or the walking dead?" Could also be a reference to meditation, where breathing is very important. Anyway, I think this song is spiritual in its meaning, in short. |

Fortunately, i don't think this song is about high school prom drama, lol. To me it sounds like a girl he lost respect for. "you'll be sweating out your dignity." It is someone who sounds promiscuous, but he must have some feelings for as he is upset by this. But he will fuck her anyway "save your breath and get down with me, i never thought it would be this easy to spread you like a disease." I think it's about having feelings for a girl who wasn't ready for a relationship so he took what he could get in a sexual sense. The hostility in the song comes from realizing she wasn't available for anything more than that. |

i can totally relate. ive suffered with sleep paralysis for 6 years. at least with me it only happens when i sleep on my back, but even when i sleep on my side i wake up on my back sometimes. in other cultures they call it hag on chest.. i believe people usually hallucinate of a person holding them down or at least being present when in this condition. i think the drowning he brings up might be because while in the state, you cannot make noises... because your throat muscles wont contract... so maybe thats as if your heads filled with water you cant make sound. he could totally be referring to someone else through this experience, i dont know, but these lyrics definitely show the feeling of helplessness to me. |
