This is probably my favorite out of all of Mad At Gravity's songs. It seems to me that this song means that life gets rough and he is asking if the inspiration, possibly someone, will keep him "soldiering on" or if that inspiration is going to give up on him. |

I can see where you all would say it means something about devotion and love. That's what I first thought it meant too. Then I began to think that maybe it means he doesn't like who he is and wants to change. When he says "These embers burn down low" he may mean that his 'true' him is trying to get out. And when the lyrics "At your feet I'm kneeling" are there maybe it's meant as he's saddened in a way to see that part of him go. For my last example, "With every trailing plume, know it bears me home" could mean that as the masked him burns the true him begins to show, or come home, to where people may see him. |
