this song is all about how the world looks at us as "aliens." usually, aliens are looked at as foreigners, or as people who dont really belong in an area. i think john chose the analogy as us being aliens rather well. we have to use our 'alien' powers for the good, however, and go and totally throw our society upside-down for Jesus. we have to go like a "chosen generation" for Christ and be the light for him. i like how he adds at the end of the 1st verse "there's no stoppin it all" because with the power of Jesus coming through us to the people, we can go on forever, no sin can stop us because we have the power of God flowing from us. the other way he uses aliens, which i like, is as the little scary green things from other planets who are usually out to get us for the bad. but as the alien youth, we have to be the good aliens for Jesus and be out there for their "souls" as john puts it. we shouldnt have to leave this world alone at the coming of Christ. "And we're not gonna leave this world alone" states that we need to be out there encouraging our peers and family members and friends to come with us. dont leave this world alone, and become an alien for God |

this song is totally about being one united people in Christ. these verses say it clearly: The almighty Christ is my redemptive claim People are created now one in the same Universe come together Servants come together Culture come together Family come together if you read somewhere in Isaiah i believe, its talking about the Holy of Holies (if that song sounds familiar) and there was a single temple that was in the middle of temples around it, and this single temple was called the Holy of Holies, and it was considered the most sacred place to go. even the high priest was only allowed in there once a year, because they didnt want the spirit of God to escape that room. this temple was locked in by a very, very, VERY thick curtain (and it must have been pretty darn heavy too). well later in the bible, it talks about how when Jesus is risen, that curtain is torn to let the spirit of God flow everywhere. that explains this verse: I'd like to inform the humans are the norm We all like to swarm but the curtain was torn i could go on and on about this song... but i'll stop here =D hope this helped someone |

this has really easy messages, and one of those is that we need to be humble as Christians and not think that we're higher than anybody else, cause we arent. its also that the news of Jesus Christ needs to be reached to ALL people. "And pop the bubbles that your're in. Wheter you're black, white, brown, gay or muslim, jewish or christian come come come come out your cages and engage this." its not hard to figure that out from those verses... i think by this verse: "I am not afraid of the universe. You are freedom. I have liberty." he's yelling at the world that they may have the temporary freedom of living in the USA, but he has eternal liberty in Jesus Christ |

| laurnie has a very good point. i am a christian and i never really looked at this song being about God, but now i'm kind of starting to see it. i do however totally believe that everything is about God, cause how can it be about a girl with that sort of power and movement in the song? ok anyways, back to this one, if you look at the first verse, "You can be right And I'll be real Oh, and it still won't be a pain That you will have to feel Cause I don't need your approval To find my worth..." it looks like its talking about how people in the world can be very judgmental and >whats the word i'm looking for... | |
