Volcano Choir – Byegone Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Disarmingly beautiful, as usual. But I feel that this song could be perfectly at home with the others on Bon Iver's self-titled album. Volcano Choir and Bon Iver are growing almost too close in terms of sound. Not that it's a bad thing - but why not just have one music project then? |
Youth Lagoon – Daydream Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Lake instead of "place"? Makes sense and rhymes with "ache". |
Summer Fiction – Chandeliers Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I know you copy/pasted exactly from their site, but here's it typed out word for word: Thoughts remain Feelings unspoken A moth to flame Walking on broken glass Catch a plane To the Sahara Then pray for rain Running mascara Now’s the time to get on your feet, dear Love is blind under the chandeliers Under the chandeliers An unmade bed A high threshold for pain The things you said A pillowcase lipstick stain Now’s the time to put on your face dear You were mine under the chandeliers Under the chandeliers (x2) Look up at the chandeliers |
Young Galaxy – Peripheral Visionaries Lyrics | 13 years ago |
We inhabit both creature and fool Seeing is nothing sacred We inhabit both creature and fool Seeing is nothing sacred It's the peripheral way, it's the peripheral way It's the peripheral way, it's the peripheral way We exist in more than time and space Keeping unwritten mythologies We exist in more than time and space Keeping unwritten mythologies It's the peripheral way, it's the peripheral way It's the peripheral way, it's the peripheral way We'll see tears from the eyes of God And godless and godless (x6) |
Yeasayer – I Remember Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I was blown away by the beauty of this song. His voice is amazing always, but on this song it just soars. At first I thought a female vocalist was guest-starring on this track, he can sing falsetto so wonderfully. Achingly beautiful. |
John Mayer – I Don't Trust Myself (With Loving You) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
amster8 - i think you've put it eloquently and perfectly. this song fits my life right now because i'm in the position of the girl in this song, and the guy i'm interested in is john ... my guy just broke up with his ex only a few days before we met for the first time and really hit it off - thus the "you met me at an interesting time" bit. things were going great for awhile until he backed away and became distant, all because of exactly what you said - he was both afraid of letting his own guard down and of me getting too close, and he told me all this. bad timing kinda sucks :( |
John Mayer – Vultures Lyrics | 17 years ago |
gcam, i completely agree - i was just going to post about this song being about paparazzi, especially seeing as he was hounded recently for the whole jessica gossip thing. i think he is saying he naively thought the entertainment industry and being a musician was going to be easy like "water" but he's found it's like "fire" but if it's what he needs to keep being successful, he'll keep walking through it and rising higher. |
Five for Fighting – 100 Years Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i'm not a huge five for fighting fan ... the lead singer's voice is a bit annoying and contrived, and i would always turn off the radio when this song came on. but somehow it got in my head the other day and i decided to download it ... and after really listening to it, i'm enjoying the song. i agree with what everybody's been saying but i think iit's about suicide ... i think it's about a 15-year-old suicidal kid out there who thinks that life is not worth living and is wondering why he shouldn't end it now. the lead singer, a wise and mature voice, tells of all the glorious things to look forward in future years ... of finding love and creating a "they" by creating a family ... and yes, he admits there are crises and pains and troubles to face, but they all enhance the beauties of life by sheer contrast. he's telling the kid to not throw his life away when he only has 15 years under his belt, because 100 years isn't even that many and each and every moment is a precious gift not to waste. a very uplifting song for anybody who's feeling a bit down. |
The Goo Goo Dolls – Think About Me Lyrics | 21 years ago |
All Goo songs rock...instead of my interpretation of this song, I'll provide some trivia: During a recording session, Johnny hit his head on the mic and got shocked or something and he screamed out loud. They thought it was so funny that they kept the scream in the final release. You can hear it just barely if you listen hard right after he sings "and all you want is something i can't be" and then they go in for an instrumental interlude. As you can see, the person who submitted these lyrics wrote in "ahh!" where he screams. It's quite amusing to hear it. :) |
Evanescence – Going Under Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I LOOOOVE this song. I always get obsessed with a really really small part of songs, and in this one it's how amy sings "maybe i'll wake up for once" and then the echo comes...I love it! Anyway, I feel this song points on some level to abuse...she's trying so hard to escape, to "breathe" and "break through" but his abuse is so overpowering that she can't help "going under" and drowning. Sad. |
Evanescence – Imaginary (Fallen version) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
good song...estocopath, i'm curious or just stupid...what do you mean by "ties to tourniquet"? I don't think they're lyrically or stylistically that similar...maybe i'm just an idiot :) |
Evanescence – My Immortal Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Beautifully haunting and easily my favorite song on the whole album. Amy Lee's vocals rock on every track, but they move me to tears on this song every time I hear it. When it crescendos to "i've been alone all along" something wells deep within my chest...ahhh! soooooo enchanting and so sad. It's a painful remembrance of a loved one lost. Makes me want to cherish everybody I have now so I'll never feel so painfully alone... |
Evanescence – Bring Me To Life Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This song was how I, and many, first heard of Evanescence. At first, I loved it. I still like it, but after buying "Fallen," it's one of my least favorites on the CD...probably because of Paul McCoy's vocals. He's okay for the song, but Amy Lee's voice is simply amazing..."My Immortal" blows me away every time I hear it. What I love about Evanescence is that their style can change and so can their subject matter, but the lyrics are deep and poignant and actually mean something. Erm...being this is songmeanings.net, here's my two cents: this song is pretty self-explanatory. Somebody feels dead and doesn't know how to really, truly live, and she's begging this person to "bring her to life". yeah...just basically repeated the lyrics, didn't I? |
Evanescence – Tourniquet Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Gonzalesaurus, great interpretation. It's what I meant in my above post too. And I didn't mean to say, in any way, that lostinadyingworld was incorrect; I just wanted to post my own interpretation in contrast with his/hers. Sorry if I offended anybody, and Gonzalesaurus - thanks again for explicitly explaining that interpretation. |
Evanescence – Tourniquet Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I don't think I agree with lostinadyingworld...a tourniquet is something that stops bleeding from a large wound, like a bandage. I think the song is begging to be saved from death rather than inviting death...they want a metaphorical tourniquet to stop their pain and bleeding and bring them salvation... |
Loreena McKennitt – The Mystics Dream Lyrics | 21 years ago |
yeah check out her other songs - she's amazing. |
Maren Ord – Just Like You Lyrics | 21 years ago |
i absolutely LOVE this song. I can totally relate - well not with the abuse part. Well actually, in part. I've been suffering from a lot of UNINTENTIONAL verbal and mental abuse from my parents lately, and this song helps me to realize that I'll eventually "Break that cycle" and "get out" one of these days. I love my parents, but I just feel like they are blatantly wrong in some situations. But anyway - Maren sings with such power and raw emotion. She really is one of the most talented undiscovered artists, and deserves popularity in the United States. |
